    Reincarnacion

Just curious how many of you are Christian, but still believe in reincarnation....

I'd like to believe in reincarnation. I think it's the coolest concept.

I'm not Christian or anything, though.

          Reincarnation, by Wallace McRae

What is reincarnation? A cowboy asked his friend.
It starts, his old pal told him, when your life comes to an end.
They wash your neck and comb your hair and clean your fingernails,
And put you in a padded box away from life’s travails.

The box and you goes in a hole that’s been dug in the ground.
Reincarnation starts in when you’re planted neath that mound.
Them clods melt down, just like the box, and you who is inside.
And that’s when you begin your transformation ride.

And in a while the grass will grow upon your rendered mound,
Until some day, upon that spot, a lonely flower is found.
And then a horse may wander by and graze upon that flower
That once was you, and now has become your vegetated bower.

Now, the flower that the horse done eat, along with his other feed,
Makes bone and fat and muscle essential to the steed.
But there’s a part that he can’t use and so it passes through.
And there it lies upon the ground, this thing that once was you.

And if perchance, I should pass by and see this on the ground,
I’ll stop awhile and ponder at this object that I’ve found.
I’ll think about Reincarnation and life and death and such,
And come away concludin’, why, you ain’t changed all that much.
"The war against this enemy is more than a military conflict. It is the decisive ideological struggle of the 21st century and the calling of our generation." George W. Bush

Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

            ^^^nice, I like Cowboy poems.
there is a really good one called a cowboy's prayer.
I'll try and post it later.

Now on to reincarnation, just for a second.
I want everyone to imagine if everyone in this planet really, truly & completely believed in reincarnation.

if a bad guy was breaking into your house you would shoot him without hesitation because you know you would just be
re- shuffling his deck and maybe he could get a better hand next time. it wouldn't bother you at all.
and even as he lay dying..being shot and dying wouldn't really bother him because life hadn't been so good if he had turned to crime.
now he would have new chance to do it all over again.

people would be less afraid of death and the dying.
people might be braver with their actions.. stopping bank robberies , surfing huge waves or climbing big mountains....etc.

the only downside is that if you've already ruined your life you probably won't try to turn it around. you'll just think " well this one is screwed..let me keep gambling it away since I'll get a new chance next time around".

which is the reason why I was told they took out some parts of the original Bible that supposedly spoke about reincarnation as a possibility.

it's harder to get people to go to church in this life, if they think they can have a second shot & may just try going to church in the next life.

This isn't the result in countries where the population believes in reincarnation already.

"which is the reason why I was told they took out some parts of the original Bible that supposedly spoke about reincarnation as a possibility."

That's not true. There are gnostic texts that seem to talk about reincarnation, but those are all second-fourth century texts.

that's not how it works, but the idea of reincarnation might be different in Christianity IDK. reincarnation is not a re shuffle. doing bad, breaking the precepts accumulating bad karma is like planting a bad seed. bad seeds don't grow good fruit. your next life wont be randomly better than this one if you spent this life planting bad seeds. you will be reincarnated in a worse place and have to work harder to get out. you could be reborn in a he11 realm and suffer in your next life. if you follow the eightfold path and plant good seeds you will be reborn in a higher station.

here is a slick picture about the 6 realms. starting from the top

heaven realm- did the work, got the prize, now go kick it with the Buddhas and heavenly beings.

rage and conflict- do you enjoy being angry and stuff? well have a world of conflict

realm of animals- self preservation and basic instincts will rule your entire life.

he11 realm- you were a bad boy, enjoy the pain you earned it.

frustrated cravings- neediness and addiction are your world. this is where addicts go.

                    human realm- that's us!

                      Nope!

                      Ecclesiastes 9:5-6New International Version (NIV)
5 For the living know that they will die,
                      but the dead know nothing;
                      they have no further reward,
and even their name is forgotten.
                      6 Their love, their hate
                      and their jealousy have long since vanished;
never again will they have a part
in anything that happens under the sun.

                      Ecclesiastes 12:7New International Version (NIV)
7 and the dust returns to the ground it came from,
and the spirit returns to God who gave it.

Mossy, serious question I'd like to ask; What/who are you in the past life?

No idea who or what i was and honestly i am not interested in finding out. The past is in the past focusing in and obsessing over it won't improve the here and now.

My wife is Christian, and is a reincarnationist. Makes sense to her.

                          I'm a reincarnationist as well, but non-Christian.
