    Scientology

    To be more specific.

I have a relative who believes in the Church of Scientology.

I have already researched web content but would first hand knowledge of someone who is involved or who has been involved in this Church.

If a mod is going to delete my thread I would only ask to PM me as to why.

I don't want to ask my relative questions due to some of my own bias and lose a good relationship.

Any first hand knowledge out there?

        Go and research first hand.
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT
        (thanks to Jeff Cooper)

There are a few documentaries you can watch that interview ex-scientologists and go into more of the mysterious, and not so flattering details about the religion.

I am. Isn't this what this forum is for?

Couldn't the same advice be the same for any religion?

It's a free country, including the freedom to believe in stupid things. As long as the family member doesn't push their beliefs on me, after I've made it clear I'm not a believer, then I have no problem. I had a family member, by marriage, who got sucked into a for real cult called "Fellowship of Friends", it was really sad, but, it was his life, and who am I to tell him to live his life differently?

In before the "You should infiltrate their church and become one of them and report back. "

Hope you get an actual response here.

I was considering Scientology for a while till I figured out I'd never make enough money to buy enough purification and enlightenment classes to qualify for a spot on the mother ship.

We already have the only reasonable Gun Control we need, It's called the Second Amendment and it's the government it controls.

Look into L. Ron Hubbard as well. He was a mega sci-fi buff. But you find out what kind of person he really was and how he treated the people who worked on his ship. He/his followers was banded by a few countries.

What made you initially consider it? What was the initial attraction?

                              I wouldn't touch it.
