A piece published in 2021... WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS ABOUT FLAT EARTH THEORIES...
It's a matter of 'interpretation' based on the usual 'pick, choose, and ignore.' As a result, you aren't going to find anything specific which refutes it and what is strung together to support it is usually easily refuted if you know enough about actual Science and History....At the end of this brief review of the main arguments that the Bible supports the flat Earth theory, we can draw a sufficiently clear conclusion: the Bible does not promote a specific cosmological model - the flat or round Earth, geocentrism or heliocentrism - and the conflict on cosmological models between science and religion, although having a rich history, is still an artificial one.
Bear in mind that the piece was published by a Seventh-Day Adventist outlet. However, since many point to that organization as the originator of 'scientific creationism,' it does make for an interesting read. -
Isaiah 40:22 nkjv
It is He who sits above the circle of the earth,
And its inhabitants are like grasshoppers,
Who stretches out the heavens like a curtain,
And spreads them out like a tent to dwell in.
Job 26:7 nkjv
He stretches out the north over empty space;
He hangs the earth on nothing.Comment

When I took Hebrew at Seminary, this is what I understood to represent the earth being a sphere. My Hebrew left me 20 years ago, so all I could remember was that there were verses supporting "sphere"!!!

I sent your link to a friend that has decided the earth is flat. Her reply:
I have faith in and read the King James and the New King James Bible. If I have a question, I cross reference for clarification the original King James Bible.
It has been stated that the "Church" discounted the flat earth theory 500 years ago. What Church? The "Church" is the body of believers, all believers, not an institution. If they are referring to the Catholic church which was extremely corrupt in the Middle Ages, and still is, I would discount that theory.
I have found no reference to the earth either being a ball or rotating in the Bible. "Bible scholars" splitting hairs over the translation of a word is common. What they fail to do is reference anything else in the Bible that would discount their interpretation of a "word" and what they are trying to support. This article contains additional information regarding the earth as referenced in the Bible.

My goal is to know the truth. I am okay with the earth being either round or flat, but I am not okay with being misled. Either way, my questions would still be:
If the earth is flat, why are we being told it is not?
If the earth is round, why are we now being led to believe it is flat?
I am 75. At this point I could care less if we are on a ball or a plate.

As soon as someone say KJV is their only version for "truth," you have a red flag. They are not really after "truth" if they limit themselves to KJV only.I sent your link to a friend that has decided the earth is flat. Her reply:

To be that attached to ANY science subject is to set your mind on things of the earth (literally here). That's a sinful violation of Colossians 3:1-4.
Ask them how often they think about/ discuss Jesus Christ, how He affects their life, and how often they are sharing the gospel AS COMPARED to flat earth? (or any earthbound subject).
If we focused as much on Jesus Christ as God the Father would have us do, these topics would have no value to us at all.
1 Co1:9 God is faithful, through whom you were called into fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
--> "Fellowship" = intimate, personal, close, continuous, communion / fellowship / relationship with our Savior, Jesus Christ.
Blessings,Pastor Bill

I don?t plan to go down this rabbit hole with her. Since she retired she has gone off the deep end. She did convince me to not get the vax, though.

Is there a Bible verse on the validity of the sonic boom?
Is there a Bible verse on whether not eating carbs will lead to weight loss?
Is there a Bible verse about diet coke having similar affect on the brain as heroine?

Hebrew word in Isa 40:22 is "khug". Same Hebrew word is found in Job 22:14 but translated as "vault" in many bible versions. Can't imagine a 2 dimension vault or container. Other similar Indo-European variations of the Hebrew word "khug" all speak of a spherical shape. Not definitive, but pretty indicative.

^^^Exactly. I’ll add that the bible also was NOT written to reform society. Nor was it written to discuss space aliens, prosperity, good fortune, nor winning of sports games.
Rather, is was written to point the way to SALVATION! Period.sigpic
