    Can war be righteous?

If there are such things as righteous wars, Revolutionary War and World War 2 come to mind, what dictates it?

Is there Biblical principle that allows war?

    If so, what books/chapters/verses?

    Can war be righteous?

Google "just war theory". St. Augustine has written on this.

Interesting subject, but consider this ... Armageddon, the war of all wars. Biblical? I believe so; others do not.

I am aware of the return of Jesus Christ in Revelations but I am more interested in war before the one to end all...

No problem. There is no direct biblical teaching on war. Most of Augustine and Aquinas' work is an attempt to stay consistent with NT theology.

Any theory that doesn't start with the Imageo Dei is destined to be erroneous. Plenty more to say here, but I'm a just war theorist fwiw.

May I refer you to one I consider my truest brother though one not biological? He is an Army major who has a retreat for first responders in Montana. Please advise.

The Crusades by Latin Catholic church in the 12th century could be considered righteous war, but in whose eyes?
Torture, and murder of innocent children and women were not uncommon during the Crusades, but can these acts be considered righteous?

PM me with an email and I will ask him to contact you. He is a chaplain with a number of deployments to Afganistan, etc. He understands. I cannot say enough good things about him or his credentials or the fact that he cares.

                            From what I know,
The Pope during that time was a very powerful figure and title. Able to sway kingdoms to enact military for defense or offense of events.
(Good thing the Pope of our times don't have these powers and influences.)
And during a time when the world didn't have Jedi as a religion or religious freedom, I'd imagine it was communist/dictator way of life pretty much in every kingdom.
