We're now officially a Glock Blue Label provider. Details can be found here:

    SGC Glock Blue Label Thread

I'm also continuously working on other LE projects. LEOSA qual is active and ready for who needs it.

We currently qual CDCR Officers for their off-duty carries and to satisfy PC 26300 requirements for their retired officers.

Agency/group level packages are in the works.

We have standard capacity mags in stock for Glock, AR, and AK. We can order you anything else that you may need through our vendor partnerships.

Im an LEO and came in the other day with my brother in law. First off let me say the following:

Your business is great; its clean, state of the art, lots of gear, lots of guns and it looks presentable. The staff was nice, professional and were good at what they were doing. I asked to see a few rifles I obviously wasn't going to buy and the staff didn't look annoyed or give off any body language like I was a bother.

I didn't like one of your range masters. Nothing specific i can articulate; I just didn't like his tone when we spoke. Definitely more my problem than his.

Your prices were decent and I will definitely return in the future over going anywhere else. Keep up the good work.

And for the love of god turn down the heat in the rifle range. It was at least 90+ degrees in there.

Thank you for the feedback, Petro. We had a minor issue with the cooling system in the ranges. This is our first true summer and the external heat definitely made itself known to our cooling system.

Our HVAC vendor came out and repaired the system on Monday. It should be fine now. Please let me know if you experience any other issues during your next visit. Stay safe.

For LEOs looking to use SGC, FYI -

To shoot from the holster, you will need to provide LEO/CCW credentials and be member. I went to their facility earlier this week and was told that I would have to become a member to use my holsters. I showed up there under the impression that LEO status was sufficient for this sort of range use. I was wrong. The staff were professional and apologetic about it, but I was bummed. Small niggle, however my experience otherwise was fine. Very clean, spacious facility.

"We do not restrict anyone from drawing from the holster or rapid firing. LE and CCW holders are generally cleared to do so and "uncertified" (by official documentation) shooters have the opportunity to show that they can properly control their firearm under those conditions. This will all be at the discretion of the RSOs on staff."

Earlier today, with the above quote understood, I took my my first trip over to the SGC. After waiting almost 10 minutes for the 2 kids at the counter to check in a "member" for some IDPA work I was informed that I misunderstood the rules and regulations. My credentials meant nothing.

You only have a very brief time to make a good impression on someone you have never met. SGC failed today! I won't be back.

Hello, the draw/controlled fire policy was changed at the discretion of the current Rangemaster.

If you have any issues or concerns with the current range policy, please email Kendall Jones at KJones@sacramentogunclub.com.

                  Thank you.

Soooo what IS the policy then? I'd rather not email the rangemaster if you have that information.

Draw and Controlled Fire is reserved for members only.

You would email the Rangemaster if you have concerns or comments to the policy.

I live several hours away, and would be unhappy if I went there on one of the many days I was passing through, only to be told I couldn't draw from my holster or shoot controlled pairs. There's no point in being a member for occasional visits, and there's no point in occasional visits if I can't draw my gun.

Everything else about the place sounds pretty awesome. I'm curious what their reasoning is.

That is a question for the Rangemaster. He is a retired CDCR Officer so he is not a stranger to the life of a Peace Officer.

I personally am also in-tune with the LE field and am still active in the field. My guess is that it was meant to prevent damage to the range and maintain safety.

We know that not everyone is trained the same way and not everyone is as proficient as we'd assume or as the should be. The reality of the situation is POST only requires a course of fire or mandated training during the academy. There is no requirement or course of fire afterwards and it is up to the individual agency or individual to maintain their perishable skills. I am aware that agency perishable skills requirements vary greatly between agencies. The same applies to CCW holders and their county's qual requirements for CCW pre and post issuance.

There would need to be a way to vet non-members to show proficiency. We do this for our members by qualifying them to prove proficiency then issuing "OK to Draw" and/or "Controlled Fire" cards. It likely isn't practical to issue these cards to non-members who may or may not return.

Let's be honest, not everyone who carries a firearm practices like they should. I can assure you that some of our members who are Peace Officers or CCW holders fail our qual courses. We advise them of what they need to work on and help them to become more proficient. They return to qual then get issued the cards after satisfying the course of fire.

If you can think of a solution, then by all means email the Rangemaster. The policy is ultimately up to him.

Here are the backgrounds of our Rangemaster and other Instructors:

Petro, I was 10-8 today. Looks like clogged filters were the cause of the humidity. Our maintenance vendor swapped the filters to a newer style and the ranges are good to go.

After my shift, I ran a few drills in the rifle bay around 1430 hrs. No discomfort for me.

Well I for one find your "course of fire" for both double taps and drawing from the holster to be unrealistic and unreasonable. Really, draw from the holster, no time limit and fire 1 then 2 then 3 shots into a pie plate at 5, 10, 15 yards with a perfect score proves nothing. What would be much more realistic is to use the standard bowling pin target, put some time limits on the shots and incorporate some rapid fire.

I'm sure that the Instructors chose the course of fire accordingly. IMO, it is sufficient in showing that the shooter can maintain a proper sight picture and trigger control. It is not a combat course so timing is not required.

Everyone's controlled rate of fire comfort level is different, so there shouldn't be a set rate. We advise them to go at the speed that they are most accurate and comfortable with. They can speed up as they get more proficient.

Again, the Rangemaster is responsible for the SOP of range functions. It is best for you to relay your suggestions directly to him.

I am responsible for maintaining the CGN account and have put it upon myself to develop LE programs for the LE community. It is not something that the I am mandated to do; I simply push for it to provide additional options for my brothers and sisters and blue.
