I was issued a full size M&P9. So, I carry it on and off duty. When I wear shorts or light clothes, I carry S&W 5 shot revolver with a laser.

Have worn all 4 off duty, to see if I could...
This reminds me of one of my old co-workers, but he did it all the time!

G23c on duty (I know kind of lame, but I don't have a choice)

G36 or XDs .45 off duty

Sig 226 9mm on duty. M&P40c, LCP.380 or XD40 off duty. The different platforms aren't an issue for me but do require a fair amount of time on each trigger. Damn, another reason to go to the range. I would struggle, from a muscle memory standpoint, if any of them had an external safety, but not an issue on these.

A lot of complicated answers above. I keep it simple: M&P 9mm with X300U on duty. M&P 9C off duty. When it is really hot I'll just carry my LCR .38 with a couple of speed strips. I shoot all 3 regularly just to stay fresh.

Duty: Glock 22 Gen 4 with a Surefire X300 Ultra Weaponlight
                Off-Duty: Glock 23 Gen 4

Both are personally owned and covered in my department policies and procedures with department-issued ammunition. I err in the side of caution and use the same platform for both on and off duty guns that are covered in my department policies and procedures. I qualify with both of them and shoot them both regularly to stay competent.

I err in the side of caution just in case if I ever get in a shooting, on or off-duty, my department, it's lawyers, and my legal team will cover me. I hope it never has to come to that, but you never know and should always be ready for the worse, but hope for the best.

When the rubber meets the road, the courts and lawyers will pick apart your actions and how your actions corresponded with the law and your department's policies and procedures.

Ok dont laugh, we carry s&w model 65 4" 38 special revolvers. We are still in the process of getting the entire dept (i think the 2nd largest law enforcement agency in the world) have glock 22's. Our special teams already have the glocks but if your sent on a temp transport youll have a 38 on you. We should be completely done with the model 65 in the next year i hope. Off duty weapon is a glock 19 or 27

On Duty: Glock 17 Gen4 with a Streamlight TLR-1 HL

                    Off Duty: Glock 23 (until I get a G19 Gen4)

On rare occasions (wardrobe restrictions at formal events) I will only carry a Ruger LCP.

On duty I carry a Glock 17 (department issued). Off duty I carry the Glock 17 or my Glock 26.

                      Stay safe.

M&P 9mm is on duty and M&P9c is off duty.

I'm a big fan of the HK w/ LEM trigger. No safety, no decocker, not a striker fired pistol.... which means I can hold the hammer down with my thumb to prevent ND.

Duty: HK USP .40 LEM w/ TLR1s (raven concealment or blade-tech duty holster)
Off: HK P2000SK LEM .40 (raven concealment holster)

I didn't start carrying the same system on and off duty until my department finally crept into the 20th Century and issued Glock 22s. Prior to that, my on-duty was a S&W 66, and my off-duty varied from a 1911 to a S&W 645 to a S&W 3906 to a S&W 60. Once I became a firearms trainer, I carried the issued gear to for the benefit of training deputies with what they were issued.

Nowadays I carry only one pistol, a Kahr CW9. No chance of control confusion carrying one pistol year-round.
I'm retired. That's right, retired. I don't want to hear about the cop who stopped you today or how you didn't think you should get a ticket. That just makes me grumpy!
