As a vet and a retired LEO, I have always treated people with respect until they showed me they didn't deserve my kindness. Almost all the time on a traffic stop I would approach with the thought of cutting them a break. Most times people were nice and polite until they saw that things weren't going their way. When their douchbaggedness outweighed their welcome they got the full monty!!

Busting Vets?

All I originally asked was if Vets were granted a "little" more common courtesy. Never asked for a break, never expected one. Just wanted to know if in an officers mind, a guy (or gal) that had been thru much of the same training as the person pulling them hem over would just maybe share some common ground.Comment

My Military career predates my LE career. So I have a lot to relate to when I'm dealing with troops. And as said, as long as the troop maintains their military bearing, I enjoy having a friendly chat for a few minutes.
And occasionally when I do find a service member whose violation simply can't be overlooked, I've been known, as an NCO, to call the troops first line leader. I'm fine with that, knowing the first line leader will address and correct the problem without any fees, fines, court time or points assessed on the young trooper.Last edited by IrishJoe3; 02-05-2014, 11:14 PM.Urban legends are a poor basis for making public policy.Comment

I don't understand why you would respond this way. I was merely pointing out the underlined part was said by the atty. because he is a defense atty. There was no reason that I can see for you to even ask me if I would jump on you.
Secondly, with your redacted statement, you went from asking a question to lecturing the leos here. If you read the rules for this specialty forum (in the sticky at the top), you would have known this is for a non leo to ask a question in a civil manner. You may have asked it that way, but your redacted lecture certainly didn't continue in that manner.
This thread is done.Comment
