    Should have looked into it a little further. There are people around the state who are retrofitting Hummers for free for LE. And the DRMO also provides the parts free for the asking. Same for the MRAPS.

    The only thing our PD is into our Hummer for is the cost of the paint and stickers.

      I did not know that. Hopefully they are already compliant, that should save cities a good 15k or so.

            Did some reading about the Salinas PD vehicle... seems like a winner if all they say about it is true: Over the counter repair parts, costs the same or less as their previous vehicle, increased protection for those inside of it, can carry quite a few personnel (I have seen some MRAP acquired by departments that only carry 2-4 extra bodies inside), and only cost them $4,150 so far.
