Since I don't know what to get my sister for Xmas this year, I was thinking of a pair of new hand cuffs. Any recommendations? Prices? Brand? Places to get it from??

I have some Smith & Wesson handcuffs that I got as a kid
Not sure what level they are compared to actual LE handcuffs, but, I did have a event one day, where I found myself handcuffed without the key...I actually flagged down a Sheriff's cruiser, and, the deputy uncuffed me
I guess the key is pretty universal for handcuffs...I'm sure that, just by looking at them, he was able to tell they weren't LE issued cuffs...either that, or, he figured, what idiot, who was actually in custody, would escape, then, flag down a LEO to take the cuffs off

I've used Peerless my whole career. There are several other brands out there. Research the polymer type. They are significantly lighter and pretty good from what I hear.Knives don't stab people, cars don't drive drunk, eating utensils don't make you fat and pencils don't mis-spell words.Comment

I've always liked the Smith & Wesson, because of the double sided key hole. I've also used Peerless, both are good quality. I was given a pair of the ASP handcuff's, they are lighter than the all metal, but they do not fit in a standard sized cuff case. You should be able to pick them up online for around $30 or so.Comment

Any of the big names are good(i.e. Peerless, S&W, Hyatts, ASP, etc.). Might consider getting a pair of hinged cuffs, if she does have any. Also, really consider getting them engraved with her badge # and/or name. Also the ASP cuffs come in different colors. Just a few things off the top of my head.Comment

The ASP/other polymer handcuffs can be nice because they are indeed a bit lighter, come in multiple colors, some have keyholes on both sides, and I'm sure there is another benefit or two I am forgetting. The down side is the polymer can get chewed up and some big boys high on meth/PCP/crack can sometimes bend them. I haven't seen/heard of anyone breaking out but the future performance of the cuffs can be compromised.
I also like the aforementioned option of metal cuffs with badge number/department/something along those lines engraved in them.Stay classy, CGF and Calguns.Originally posted by bwiese[BTW, I have no problem seeing DEA Agents and drug cops hanging from ropes, but that's a separate political issue.]Comment

Whatever you decide to get, having her department and badge number on them is a must. In is very easy to get cuffs mixed up in arrest that involve multiple officers or suspects, or when someone else does the transport for your arrest. Another nice gift to go with the cuffs is a extended cuff key with a light built in. http://www.copsplus.com/prodnum2101.php
