OCSO, aren't they one of the other agencies that do not accept lateral transfers and require a redo of THEIR academy? I know LAPD and CHP do this.

It would be natural to see their deputies act like their poo don't stank when the agency itself basically tells all other CA POST certified officers that they're unqualified.

I dunno what OCSO's hiring/lateralling policies are but it wasn't all that long ago that we also required all new hires to attend our full academy even if they had already been through/graduated from a different academy - e.g. someone who had put themselves through a self-sponsor academy would still need to graduate from ours.

Somewhere along the way, the bean counters decided that saving money (since we didn't have to provide the initial academy training) was more important than making sure those people were "properly" trained (i.e. trained for our department's policies, procedures, duties/responsibilities, culture, curriculums, etc).

I specifically said some of their training staff. I wouldn't dream of lumping all their deputy personnel into a hate-LASD club - I'd like to believe most of their personnel don't have axes to grind against us...

Honestly, OCSO really isn't even on the radar. It's usually us and LAPD taking turns sharing the negative/bad press and publicity.
