    Would you pull me over?

Garand in unlocked CMP case, on front seat of my 2 seat convertible.

It won't fit it in my trunk; but I want to take both my new toys to the range, how will the average boy in blue (black) react?
This as as low as it'll go in the front seat:

Will the rifle without the case fit in your trunk?

Why cant you lock the case?

Will you get pulled over as described?, probably not unless you were doing something else wrong. I understand youre trying to do the right thing but I think you can go a little further if youre that worried.

Now if youre asking if how youre transporting is legal, i wont get into that debate. There are other threads with dozens of pages debating that.

I can lock the case, but it's not required for rifles/longuns (insofar as i understand the law), Oh and I dont want my nice 'special' grade M1's bouncing around un cased in the trunk. Even if they fit, which i dont think they will (too long)

Considering it takes 5 seconds to pull the stock off a Garand, get a shorter case.

Good idea and prolly the wise way to go- however I want to know whether or not I get bumped solely for the visible case...I believe the majority of officers who recognize the case as a "firearm case" would at least stop me if not a felony stop, but i've been wrong before (a couple times). By the letter of the law, IS THE CASE PC for a stop IN YOUR leo opinion? I don't think it is, based on what I've gathered here. Please excuse my attention whoring and either ignore me or offer an honest response!

(I think there's some case law on the whole "case" thing where for the purposes of establishing PC, a firearms manufacturer's logo on a case was not enough to search and 12031e check, but I'm foggy on the details.)

No i dont believe the case is PC for a stop and I wouldn't stop you based on the case. So dont take this wrong or think im rude cause I dont at all mean it to be so but I honestly dont care at all about seeing a gun case in the car of a random citizen driving down the road. It looks like your driving a $50,000 sports car and im guessing you look like a totally normal person. A lot of people feel self important on calguns and have a weird view of the police. Im looking for criminals and the 3% of the population that needs my attention. Not some dude in a sports car thats going to the range and might not properly have his firearm locked. Common sense would tell me you drive a small car and have a big rifle and cant secure it but attempted to do the best you can, ok see ya, be safe pulling out into traffic, 10-8. Most cops arnt looking to screw the general public with nickel and dime stuff and im sorry if you run into one that feels the opposite.

If you really worried buy a cheap guitar case and put it in that.....

Or just cover it with a blanket....

                Don't stress out about this....

You might get in trouble, you should just give me all your guns. I have a truck and can easily transport them without trouble.

You should be ok. Just to be safe, lock them up, and get one of the bag tags from the calguns store that say "...consent to search is not given...".
                  Sorry, not sorry.

Not a good idea unless you have ammo to waste. When you put it back together, it will take several rounds (20-30) to get it settled properly back into the stock. Total waste of ammo.

Unless its secured to the interior of the vehicle, id be more concerned about some one grabbing it while in traffic!

Like others have said, if you are pretty worried about the gun case get a big guitar case or something. Otherwise, transport the rifle legally and have fun(both driving and at the range)! It does crack me up though when people with flashy/sporty cars get all worried about the attention they cause. If you really don't want the attention, get a mid 2000's family car, keep it stock, and all lights/equipment working properly!
