Taser power question

Thought I'd ask in this section where I know LEO would chime in.
I'm going to get a hand held taser but am stupefied with voltage, quality and price. I'm about quality and function so $ is not an issue.
Can you guys steer me in the right direction with a recommendation on brand and effective voltage minimum?

Voltage is a measure of electric potential energy. In actual terms, volts measure how far your spark can "jump". High voltage allows the device to be further away from the target. Since voltage is usually a high number, it is often cited in marketing or by lawyers. A high number of, "50,000 volts" sounds more impressive in marketing or more dangerous in court.

Amps is the measure of the amount of electrical charge. That is the number which will determine if the device will shock you, burn you, or kill you.

Movie and television portrayals of people being knocked unconscious after being shocked by a "stun gun" are false. If your device could do that, you probably also inflicted burns or might have killed your suspect. Injuries from police and security use are from the resulting fall which often occurs.

Many "stun guns" don't really stun you, they just shock you. They often require a contact shot which means you are danger-close to you suspect. You may consider something that allows you to disable your suspect, not just shock them. Also something that allows you some distance and time to get away. That brings my answer back to the TASER C2.

Taser has an initial arc of 50k volts. Once it establishes a circuit in a subject, it pulses between 5k-12k at 19 pulses per second at around .0038 amps.

The C2 is your best bet if you are looking to go with an ECD.

This. You don't want to piss off the target by shocking them, you want to achieve neuromuscular incapacitation and disable the targets functions so they don't have a choice and can't fight back.

I certainly learned plenty in the last 24hrs.
Those stun guns only inflict pain, we can do that w/o the stun gun.
The taser seems like the most logical solution.

The stun gun isn't only pain, but causes localized muscle spasms (I had my lady try the $15 one I just bought off of eBay for proof of concept, and it indeed made me not want to get hit with it again), like 110v AC does and your arm jumps back as a reaction (almost identical to 110v zapping when working on live wires is what mine did). Stun guns will keep hands off of you after they get hit with it once and the new ones are LOUD with electrical zapping-noise for fear-factor too. (Think old-school stun guns as a pop-pop-pop, or TICK-TICK-TICK, and the newer higher voltage ones as a GZZZZUUUUUUZZZZZGGGGG and felt like the noise difference ).
