Congrats. To re-emphasize the point: avoid bars, clubs, parties, any event with alcohol period. There's always some guy/girl in every class that loses a great career because of booze stupidity. Don't be that guy. Good luck.

          Congrats!

But that's not quite the call... That's the call, before you get the call to go here and wait for the call to call those who will call you after several other calls.

It's the start of a great career. Have fun above all but listen and learn. Common sense... Can't emphasize that enough. Be involved with classmates, but DO NOT get wrapped up in the BS politics. Some will use gossip and the little screw ups you have against you. They will do so to improve their class ranking.

Again, thanks everyone for all the advice. Please keep it coming.

Here are a few questions of my own maybe you guys can help me with. I know i have orientation next week but helps to be ahead.

Suits (as in suit and tie) how many? Black? what color shirts?
            Dress shoes? how many pairs?
Hair? Should I cut it low? (1 all the way around to avoid any problems?)

            Thanks guys.

Suit, black with white shirts and black tie. You should have at least two of everything. You proboboly won't be in uniform until your class earns it so that could be a week to 3 weeks so you should have enough business attire that you can get through a week without having to spend too much time going to the cleaners. You need more time to study your LDs. The goal of your business attire is to appear professional but not flashy. If you have a flashy or colorful tie, for example, you will stand out to the DIs. Same thing with hair, short is the easiest to deal with in the academy. You don't want to waste time doing your hair when you just finished PT and your instructed to shower over and be in full class A uniform in 10 minutes. The simpler you make your life, the easier the academy will be. Yhour going to have some fun

Just curious -- how intensive is the academy compared to something like USMC bootcamp? Or jump school?

                        Congrats!

I may have missed it but...What academy? What agency? It may help with the questions you asked in #20. For instance at OCSA, suit were not worn at the academy once it was underway but that may be very different at others.

The intensity exceeded USMC boot camp. It was six months of boot camp! It was hard, in other words!

I saw a few guys in my academy get DUI's. Just be smart and use some common sense. The academy is the easy part just remember that.

Live, eat, sleep, breathe the academy. Know everything they gave you to know ahead of time, do nothing but concentrate on the academy, as this is your life until you graduate. When you graduate, DO NOT go out and buy a high dollar car, wait to buy it for yourself for a end of probation gift, otherwise if you didn't make it for some reason you won't have a huge car payment.....YES SIR, NO SIR, never ya or nah.
