This is a great option. I run the 18 round Mec Gar's in my Tac Ops, they fit nice and flush. I also switched the grips from the Magwell grips to Hogue grips. The Magwell grips didn't allow the magazine to insert properly. here is a few pics.

I carried my department issue S&W model 15 and speedy loaders for several years before converting to the Beretta. Oh yeah.....and a hoyt breakfront holster.

18 rounds +P and a Model 19 on my real leather belt and an Ithaca pump gun in the dash mount was all the firepower we had and needed. Well that and a good Cross mechanical pencil and a box of lead.

Yep, the good old days. Started out with a 6" Model 19, speed loaders and a custom breakfront holster from L&A Leather in Hayward. Still have the gun and accessories.

I was a rebel and had the Safariland speedloaders pouch that held 4 speedloaders.

Dang, I took a lot of heat when I showed up with the same thing. Still have it though - just pulled out a couple of speedloaders to use with my new S&W M13 carry gun.

For those of you that swear by the .45, and discount the 9mm, I recall a number of conversations that I had with Dr./Col. Martin Fackler who ran the Letterman Army Institute in the 80s and 90s. According to Dr. Fackler, who was a surgeon, and wrote numerous papers regarding soft tissue injuries, his criteria for a round is that it is capable of penetrating the body 12 to 18 inches. That allows the bullet to sufficiently penetrate the body and damage organs like the heart and lungs. Anything less than that, and he essentially said the round was no good. He hated Silver Tips because they lacked sufficient penetration.

Bottom line, .38, .357, 9mm, .45; all are equally as bad if they don't penetrate 12 to 18 inches.
