Bought a new gun for duty use.....small problem

I bought a Sig Sauer P226 TACOPS 9mm, intended to be used use on-duty. The mags are 20 round....they are long. After buying the gun, I discovered I cannot find any magazine pouches that close by snaps or velcro. The only mag pounches I can find are open on the top.

Does anyone know of any that snap closed? I normally wear my mag pouches horizonally.

Tactical tailor makes nylon mag pouches that will hold the 20 round mags. I ran them for a while but felt they were too top heavy on the sam brown.

Since I just run the 20 in the gun and standard sized mags on the sam brown with the extra 20 rounders in my 10-33 bag or on my tac vest.

I carried the 20rd mag in the gun and the flat based 15rd mags in my pouch. That totaled 51rds on my person....I was pretty ok with that!!

Hey Ernie, remember the days when the standard load out was 6 in the gun and 2 speedloaders with 6 each? Speed strips?

I was a rebel and had the Safariland speedloaders pouch that held 4 speedloaders.

I remember when the standard load out was just your revolver. Only the newfangled rookies with the gunfighter mentality carried speed loaders. The old veterans had maybe a handful of loose cartridges in a dump pouch, if that.

Yep, that's what I did when I carried a 9mm. (Back ithen, pretty much the only 9mm allowed was the S&W M59 series) Then I got smart and got a gun that fired full size bullets.

I am not that young Ron I thought you guys carried muskets?

I carried my department issue S&W model 15 and speedy loaders for several years before converting to the Beretta. Oh yeah.....and a hoyt breakfront holster.

I prefer open top mag carriers for duty (if dept allows it) Would you consider switching your mag carry to up instead of sideways?

My department does not have a policy against open top mag pouches, but they frown on it. The word is, there may be some policy changes made soon that will make it a violation to use them.

I prefer horizontal because the team I am on wears a tactical vest on the outside of the uniform, so I think 20 round mags sticking out vertically might run into some interference from the vest. I might have to do what others suggested and just buy some 15 round mags for it and use those in the mag pouch, though I prefer to use the 20 round mags.

I am hoping to score the right gear without having to waste money through trial and error.

The hk usp 45 mag pouches fits those 20rd mags.
ETA: I've ran the bianchi/safariland nylon gear with them.

Can't help, but I run a kydex holder for my G22 with Arredondo extensions. Works well and is solid, but not sure if you are allowed to use kydex....

Our department doesn't like it, but there is nothing in the policy at the moment about it. Thanks for the reply and suggestion. I am researching all avenues here.
