Anything can be explained. You would be surprised. The important part is to be honest and explain you learned your lesson.

Thanks for the info Mason. A lesson learned it was! Any insight on what you have heard about other peoples situations and experiences?

Humble. A giant slice of humble pie when explaining the situation. Everyone makes mistakes, it's apart of life. Just gotta dust yourself off and learn from them.

When can i plan on hearing back from my BI? Month? 2 months? More? Also does the poly follow the background investigation or is it apart of the background investigation?

Depends on your ranking. A lot of depts switch up the order in which the poly is given. They will use questionable areas to form their questions. It's all about the hurry up and wait at this point I'm afraid. They will contact you either by phone if it's good.....or mail when it's bad.

By ranking do you mean what i got on my oarls? I did place in band A does your score hold any ground in continuing the proccess? What im basically asking is, does a person who scores a 95 have a better chance than someone who score an 85?

Just wanted to add closure to this but I finished academy and made some life long friends along the way. It's been a crazy journey.

Keep your head up and stay focused for everyone that is currently in the process. Hard work and day after day dedication pays off.

It was several months before I got my letter from Contra Costa County.

Congrats Casper. As a retiree from your agency I can tell you that you will have a blast during your career if you want to. There are so many different assignments that you should never get bored. There used to be a real strong good ol boy network there but I hear it dissolved after Rupf left. When you are with FTO's just remember they are calling the shots. Follow their directions then after you have passed take the good info you get from each one and make it work for you. Then throw out the BS you learn.

CCSO has so many different specialty units that you just can't help having fun. My 30 years flew by.

                          Started immediately after the academy.
Trying to be a sponge and have some great FTOs.
