Tie the basic not, however, when you go around the loop, go two times instead of one. A lot more friction and easier to undo than a double knot.

you have to do either the first cross opposite the eye loops or reverse the eye loops to make a proper square knot

if your eye loops are sitting crooked you did it wrong

Double knot, then shove the slack down in the boots. I never liked wrapping them around the boot. And btw, get good laces. Buy good socks too. Your feet will love you for it.

I remember watching a video similar to this. I am tying then directly, maybe the laces suck or something.

Also, make sure you're tying a proper square knot instead of a granny knot. As bad as a square knot is, a granny knot is even worse.
