Alcohol/carrying off duty

thanks for clarifying that... seems the CA legislators have a big hole of liability to patch in this one.

because I see no reason for a off duty officer to be carrying while in a bar drinking or under any other substance.

Please don't give legislators any more ideas to throw laws in the place where people should just use common sense.

Yeah, that's what we need, more laws on stuff people should know, because more laws means more responsible citizenry and more freedom.

What's next? Laws to make us tie our shoes? Laws to ban knife use in the kitchen without kevlar gloves?

Let's outlaw cars too, beause people can drink and drive, which I see no need for...

Don't stop there. Ban alcohol with any activity which requires you to do anything more than just being outside your house. No alcohol in any public place because there is too much danger for you to do something when other people are around.

You can only drink inside your house with yourself or your family and friends, if they all sign a consent form to agree to let you drink. Every person that drinks in the presence of another must have everyone present sign a consent form.

I know, but using extremes to illustrate a point sometimes is the only way to get somewhere. So in that vein, if public service and potential liability is an issue... we need to ban all public servants from drinking anywhere, anytime.

Do you want your local mailman to give out everyone's secrets at the bar such as who subscribes to what kind of porno mag?

Going further, we shouldn't allow anyone who works in a public health facility to smoke or swim after eating or go out in winter without 4 layers of clothes or let them out anywhere in public without a germ mask because they can carry germs back or get sick and then infect others in their care which would cause liability.

Or not let public bus drivers drive off duty because they are supposed to be professional drivers and if they cause off duty accidents, then they aren't that good and we can't let bad drivers drive public buses or else we knowingly and negligently let bad drivers operate our buses and we would get sued.

The point is, you can't legislate liability out of everything and if you do, you end up with everyone being bubble boy and locked inside the house... then the house collapses because the contractor was negligent and you sue again.

Haha, you got me there on all points, TT. He's beating our nuts here by banning drinks over 16 oz. as super deadly high capacity assault fluid containers able to hydrate multiple people at the same time.
