    Sac County Wrist lock test?

Ive got a physical test scheduled for sac county in a few weeks and was reading thru the requirements of the test. One of the listed things is a wristlock test. Apparently you hold something for 15 seconds? Im confused and curious if any one can better explain the device. Im not to worried im a big guy and 15 seconds isnt very long just curious. thanks fellas

Bro it's easy... It's just a machine that you pull in with both hands and hold near the center of your chest. Don't sweat it AT all.

Good luck, and tell Deputy Hind I say hello.

I'm thinking it's what used to be called the handcuffing test. It was two spring loaded pipes with handles that you had to hold together against the spring tension.

When I took it (1978) it was a contraption with two cranks on toothed wheels that lifted a cable with weight plates at the bottom. IIRC the left on rotated counter clockwise and the right on clockwise.

The killer...after the two walls, for short folks and the Go-Betweens for taller folks was the mandatory rest before the dummy drag. It lets your muscles tighten up and than you need to use them in reverse for the drag.

Not to worry, the whole thing is really just a cardio test. If I could make it 2 days after recovering from the flu, just about anyone can make it...it's all technique

You can do that wrist lock test with basically one hand with good technique as 9mmephiphany mentioned.

The Sac County wrist lock test is easy. Be more concerned about your cardio getting over both walls and not knocking over the pvc pipes

You can use your body weight to hold it. Believe me it's not hard, just run fast. Quite a few people failed at the last physical because of time or they could not get over two walls.

I never understood how people had issues getting over the wall.

I'm 6'2" so Ive never had any issue with the wall and the go betweens sound like going thru a fence only bigger. I'm not worried one bit. Like I said I was more curious as to what the device was. Thanks for your replies and I'll let you guys know how everything went in a few weeks.

That is what it is supposed to represent, but if you knock down either it adds to your time...as does the hurdle

Please do. SSD is a great department. Your time in the jail may be long, but you also learn a lot and can do some cool stuff in there too.

If Nevada wasn't so awesome, I would have gone back when they started hiring again.

It's a patrol position that I applied for so I don't think I'll need to do jail time, but you never know.
