    Consealed pepper spray legal?

Hey guys, I'm wondering about the legality of carrying pepper spray in a consealed manner in CA. Can I have a can of the stuff in my pocket while I'm out in public without breaking any consealed weapon laws?

Perfectly legal to carry pepper spray concealed both, on you as well as in your car.

Unless you are LE, you are restricted to a container of less than 2.5 ounces.

Is there a minimum age to legally carry Pepper Spray?

I believe there are restrictions on the type of propellant used as well. Use of explosive charges are apparently a no-no, such as the Kimber Pepperblaster II.

                I can't remember if it is 16 or 18.

And 2.5 ounces will make multiple people cry. I got about eight uses out of one 3 ounce canister.

16 with parents written consent carried with the O.C.. Just an FYI, your 16 year old can have it but they cannot take it to school, their is a section in the penal code about it. I will look it up tomorrow if you need me to.

Could a person carry multiple 2.5 oz containers?

there are no restrictions on quantity, only the size of the actual containers. So you can carry 30 of the correct civilian size containers. You would need alot of mall ninja uniform pockets for all those canisters though. Believe me, one canister of good quality pepper spray works well on most people. I've taught about 700 officers in chemical agents and only about 10 of those had limited affects after it was applied on them. Don't buy the cheap gas station junk, buy it from a reputable LEO equipment supply store and you will be fine. Good luck.

It isn't LEO, it is if you take and pass a course.

If you pass the course (typically taken by security guards) then you too can have any size of container.

Anyone except a security guard may carry PS without the course, but a security guard 'on duty' can't carry without taking the course.

I believe you can take just a PS class without going through initial BSIS security guard course. Permit good for two years, IIRC, but used to be lifetime and those are grandfathered in.

Any recommendation as to which brand to buy? I want a foam type that can coat the target as opposed to the stream of liquid that may not be as accurate. Maybe I'm thinking too much into it.

not every pepper spray works well, but i guarantee that bear mace will do the trick! It has higher levels of active irritants than anything you're going to find in the self defense market....plus it's a bigger can and IIRC it's legal to carry
