is that the same PAT for the LASD?
From what I gather it's different?Last edited by phaseshift; 04-09-2012, 8:21 AM.Comment

So... if you didWell at first we all had to do the dummy drag and jump the wall, that was pass or fail, which almost everyone but two people passed.
Then we did pull ups (1-20 pull ups, 2 points each)
Next was sit ups (1-50 for 1 point each, 50-100 for +2 points and 100-125 for +3 points)
Then push-ups (1-100 for 1 point each)
Finally the 1 1/2 mile run. (for max score of 200 points, had to be done in 9:15) each second off of that is minus 1 point.
So, to pass the PAT we needed 375 points. It was possible, but very hard to accomplish unless you are in serious shape.
20 pull ups (20x2) = 40 points
125 sit ups (125+3) = 128 points
100 push ups (100x1) = 100 points
You would be at 268 points before the run which means you need 107 points on the run or 9:15+93 seconds = 10:48 for a 1.5 mile run? That's a serious 7 minute mile pace which is asking for a lot, even for recent academy grads, unless they are professional runners.
We were happy to be able to do 8-9 minute miles over distance in our academy. If you can keep up a good 8 minute mile pace, you were good to go.
Guess I wouldn't have made it either.
The POST minimum PAT is easy by comparison.I like guns

I usually run at a 7:30 mile pace which is comfortable. I could crank it up to 6:00 for a test without much issue. Sit ups would be cake although if you saw my core you would say different. I can crank out about sit ups75-80 a minute. Push ups, I would be middle of the pack.
I'm in decent shape now and it sounds like I would have trouble."Always do right. This will gratify some people and astonish the rest."~M.Twain~Comment

Yes.... focus on your pull ups, sit-ups and push-ups. Also, never give up and give up. Your mind will give up first before your body. Marine Corps motto, "Pain is weakness leaving the body."Comment

Your numbers are a little off, just pointing out that 51-100 situps are 2x and 101-125 are 3x.
But even with that, jeez, that's ridiculous. I've heard CHP is a joke compared to this.Comment

That is my interpretation of what he wrote. He put +2 instead of x2 which makes me think it's bonus added points, not a multiplier. But maybe it's a progressive system like taxes. 1 point each for the first tier. 2 points each for the second tier. 3 points for the third tier, which will actually get you 75 points for those last 25 pushups.
If you actually get that then the run would be more manageable.I like guns
