At least now you know what you have to do for the test next time.

Was this for LAPD? What did you need to do?

          He said Hawthorne.

LAPD entrance PAT has bern watered down so much it's not even funny anymore. I love that department but the crazies have really messed out up bad.

Hey, buddy, just work at it. When I was young, I took a lot of tough PATs, including Burbank. That was one of the toughest courses ever. Just persevere.

I passed on taking the Hawthorne PAT due to zero possibility of me passing.

            How many showed up?
Do you know how many passed?

I've passed Burbank and Santa Monica PATs.

You gotta be in good shape for Santa Monica and hope for best on Burbank's silly balance beam.

Good luck on your efforts to pass. Hawthorne is a great department.

To clarify a previous post, the LAPD PAT was changed years ago (around 1996-1997) to allow a wider range of applicants entry into the Academy training phase. All recruits are still required to pass the physical standards set by California Police Officer Standards and Training.

In addition, LAPD also has an additional set of physical fitness testing which all recruits are also required to pass.

While the selection process was modified (about 15 years ago), the graduation standards have not changed.

Did they give you any information on what part(s) was the problem or where you needed to improve your results?

My grandma could pass the POST physical and graduation standards. I'm amazed at how low they are.

I appreciate the words sir. The number one thing I take from this is motivation. Motivation to be better prepared and not fail the next time I take a PAT

                          Thanks.
Well at first we all had to do the dummy drag and jump the wall, that was pass or fail, which almost everyone but two people passed.
Then we did pull ups (1-20 pull ups, 2 points each)
Next was sit ups (1-50 for 1 point each, 50-100 for +2 points and 100-125 for +3 points)
                          Then push-ups (1-100 for 1 point each)
Finally the 1 1/2 mile run. (for max score of 200 points, had to be done in 9:15) each second off of that is minus 1 point.

So, to pass the PAT we needed 375 points. It was possible, but very hard to accomplish unless you are in serious shape.

For me personally, I have to work on my sit-ups and push-ups.

Maybe around 60 people showed up, and I really don't know how many passed.
