    Questions about duty belts.

I'm looking for a armed guard position and most companies require to have your own duty belt.

    So my questions are:

    Leather or nylon?

Where should I buy it? I want something that would last me a long time. So I don't mind paying a little more for quality.

Please let me know what is your guys recommendation. Links would be very helpful thanks.

Nylon. Its lighter and not as high-maintenance as leather. Cheaper too.

Nylon. Bianchi. Their Accumold line is very good.

I have worked in armed security for 3 years now, bianchi accumold is great and have yet to replace mine. Easy to clean too. If you have questions feel free to PM me.

I avoid Bianchi holsters like the plaque. Get a safariland holster.

              Nylon.

Bianchi Accumold ErgoTek. Mine lasted me forever and it's the most comfortable duty belt I have tried, leather or nylon.

I recommend against the Galls house brand. The belt has held up fine, but the OC carrier, radio holder and cuff pouch all broke really easy.

+1 for nylon, reasons above. All of the name makers ( Bianchi and Safariland are corporately the same thing BTW) make top quality belts in nylon. Do not use a single thickness belt, they break down quickly and won't hold up to daily use.

We old guys had no choice. Leather is not as comfortable, requires more maintenance and costs more. Looks 100% better though. I'd send you mine, but you are probably skinny. As cops got older, er, more experienced, and learned to use more tools, Mother Nature helped by making our belts bigger so all of it could fit.

Had mine for 18 months, 40 hours a week, and it still looks good.

Old timers learned to get the job done with less. If you couldn't solve it with a gun, stick, and cuffs, you couldn't solve it.

What do you guys think about the BlackHawk Level 3 Serpa Holster?

Thanks everybody. I'll be getting Bianchi Accumold Elite products.

A buddy of mine that is a VCSD sheriff was talking the other day about alot of officers back problems because of duty belts with alot of stuff on the back. I guess after years of a radio sticking in your back or cuffs case pressing on your spine it can cause alot of damage.

I was helping him reorganize his belt by making a couple kydex combo holsters such as a cuff/flashlight combo with battery storage that turned three things into one.

Just wanted to caution you about a risk that was only recently brought to the attention of alot of people. Dont put anything on the rear of your belt. Leave it all up front if you can.
