What earpieces do you guys recommend? I have looked at the listen only models and talk and listen. I was leaning towards listen only (becasue I am cheap, but am willing to pay more for quality rather than buy one just to turn around and buy a better one 3 months later) but wanted your guys input.

I used listen only. Simpler is always better.

I have an Otto Communications listen only earpiece which works great. I've used other brands and they have worked well also.
My shoulder mic has the plug/jack built in so it's a short wire run. I opted for this version versus the cable that runs all the way to my handpack.

I used to run talk/listen and the wires always failed within a few months. Motorola speakermic with listen only has been working for years.
The earpieces and acoustic tubes usually wear out from UV and use after a few years. Easy and fairly cheap to replace.Comment

I run a Fox with small mic for the past 3 years. I like it as I can really pick up the radio traffic."Bruen, the Bruen opinion, I believe, discarded the intermediate scrutiny test that I also thought was not very useful; and has, instead, replaced it with a text history and tradition test." I used listen only for years, but got tired of the mic getting unclipped and tripping me during foot chases, so I switched to listen/talk. Very happy with it, no problems. I clip the lapel mic to my top uniform shirt button, its secure, doesn't snag, and is good quality audio.Urban legends are a poor basis for making public policy.Comment

Same here.... I was always popping the Motorola off my lapel and it would end up flopping around.
A side effect was dispatch said my audio was much crisper than the others.Comment

Or...there is slamming the door on the mic which, unknown to you, had become un clipped. That is always amusing to the motorists

Mine comes unclipped regularly, but the cord runs from the radio on left hip diagonally across the back to the right shoulder. Under the lapel and to the top button of the shirt. When it comes unclipped, it only dangles from the right shoulder on about 5 inches of cord. Not the full length.I used listen only for years, but got tired of the mic getting unclipped and tripping me during foot chases, so I switched to listen/talk. Very happy with it, no problems. You could also go under the same side lapel to the center of your shirt. I wouldn't clip directly to the lapel unless I had no other choice,Comment

Earpiece
Custom molded earpiece with listen only capability!
I bought mine from these folks back in 1999 and the earpiece mold is still very serviceable and I've only had to replace the wire once...
