Thanks for all the great input, it's been really helpful. Looks like the Danner Acadia is preferred here. I'll definitely be looking at them. They just weigh more than other boots and I'm hoping that won't make it harder for PT.

ALthough, like I said before, Danner all the way... might want to think about "lighter" boots for the majority of the academy, perhaps 5.11, etc.... switch to Danner's towards the end to break them in... that way once you hit the streets... you've broken in the Acadia's. Just a thought...Comment

You might want to save the acadia's for when you get on duty but until then some throw away boots would be cool. I bought two pairs because they are stupid cheap and shipping is free.

Buy two pairs for the academy and you will save yourself a ton of headaches. Keep a pair shined nicely cause after range days, scenarios, getting hammered on the grinder the last thing you will want to do is shine boots when you get home. Danner's are the cat's *** though for boots everything else i have tried lasts maybe 6-8 months at most for duty use.Comment

When I went to the SWAT academy, I took some Converse boots thinking they would be good for all the physical activity. They made my feet burn. I put my Danner Acadias back on for the rest of the academy...no more issues.Last edited by CalCop; 03-14-2012, 10:51 PM."Police, at all times, should maintain a relationship with the public that gives reality to the historic tradition that the police are the public and the public are the police; the police being only members of the public who are paid to give full-time attention to duties which are incumbent upon every citizen."

I have had 3 pairs of Danner Acadias over 22 years of service. I will not wear another boot for uniform duty. They are very comfortable right from the beginning, and a decent shine trustee has always been able to get a great shine on them. I suck at shining shoes, so I leave it to the pros! I tried some Adidas GSG9 boots back in the early 90's, but they were too narrow for me.Comment
