Welcome to the club Rico! IMO, the six months isn't all "that bad" (luckily for me, there were too many light duty personnel on the desk so I was allowed to stay out in the field as designated bookman). Worse is worrying about not crashing again once you're back behind the wheel...

Truer words were never spoken. First one to offer those words to me was a now retired Lt. I still feel too FNG to say it myself - maybe if/when I hit 25 years...

My department has a on-duty traffic collision point system that compiles the past 3 years. 1 point for T/C less than 10 mph within vehicle code, 2 points for over 10 mph within VC, 3 points for over 10 mph out of VC. 4 points in three years you are benched for 6 mos.

I have 3 T/C's in the past 3 years. Two 1 pointers, one 3 pointer. I'm going to a sub station on a foot beat with a few others that cant drive for T/C's and other "off-duty related" driving suspensions. Good thing I'm going back to 9mm, lighter belt.

This policy sounds a lot like ours. Ours also provides for removing 1 point for attending driving training, but few are aware of that option. Might want to see if you can do that.

Six months is a blink of an eye in your career.

Just curious ... What were the causes? Late braking, eyesight not being able to gauge distance/perspective/depth, other motorist(s) not pulling over to the right, ....?

Only 3 in 3 years? That seems low considering you guys drive like a million miles per day! What a rip off!

Yeah, I was kinda thinking the same thing...reminds me of what a mail carrier once told me....that X amount of accidents and they were out. Regardless of the circumstances.

Now if all of your T/C's were avoidable....then I can see them taking you out of the car for a bit. But if any of them were not your fault....that'd just plain suck. Regardless, either way.....I feel for you!
