Hey all, im interested in the gun racks used in police cruisers, specifically ones that lock (dont they all?) does anyone know a specific brand or seller, also the locking drawers i often see in Tahoe and suv models, id love a discreet and safe way to carry my rifle while traveling.

I will have a vehicle gun rack for a Remington 870 available soon... not sure what model it is for... but it is the standard one that the State uses... but if you want new, check Gall's. They have a pretty comprehensive selection.

Question though, if my gun is openly visible in a rack (such as the cruiser rack style), but is locked, would I still be prohibited to drive into a school "gun-free" zone? The reason I ask is I live well within the parameters of a school zone, and definitely would want to maintain within the limits of the law. I of course don't know it PERFECTLY well, but would like to get a better understanding if anyone could help.

CA Penal Code 626 et.al. for safe school zones, 626.9 in particular with respect to firearms.

If it's in a locked gun rack, even if exposed, it would seem that it is locked, no?

Locked and unloaded. You probably knew that, but just making sure.

And yes it's okay, but it could possibly attract unwanted attention being visible (e.g. criminals). Just something to keep in mind.

Unloaded then... logically arguing, would also be defined similarly with LGUOC which mean side saddle and speedfeed stock rounds are okay.
