I cannot think of one reason why you would not carry all the time if you could carry.

I alost always carry something off duty. It doesn't help I live in a less than ideal neighborhood in a less than ideal town.

As of eay on/off I use a DeSantis IWB for my 1911s and Sigs.

Shop DeSantis GunHide for premium leather and kydex holsters, duty gear, and more. Experience family-owned, American-made quality. Find your perfect fit today.

I feel naked without it now.
Back pack or gym bag. I know it's not ideal but it's better than leaving it at home.

Had my concealed carry course today for El Dorado County. Pretty insightful course. I plan to carry all the time.

Yes. Holster on and loaded gun with full mag plus 1 in the pipe all the time. Extra mag in opposite hip pocket. Frying bacon? Wear your gun. Watching Wheel of Fortune? Wear your gun. Always. I carry a full-size and this isn't a problem. If it were, I'd get a pocket .380 and then I'd have no excuse.

When you first start carrying it can be a bit intimidating but buy good equipment (i.e. holster and handgun) and trust your equipment. If you're not a LEO and live in a free county and can carry concealed off of your property follow the same guidelines.

Do some people think I'm paranoid? Don't know and don't care. Remember in the late 70s and early 80s when people thought you were silly and paranoid if you wore a seat belt? most of those people have either long since realized the folly of their thinking or flown through a windshield by now.

If someone kicks in your front door there isn't going to be time to run from the TV in the den to your safe in the bedroom. Read Massad Ayoob's books on concealed carry, combat handgunnery, and the legal and moral implications of self-defense. You'll feel better prepared.

if you are legally allowed there is absolutely no reason to not carry at all times, because its not just your own life but someone elses you can save. I very well stopped a home invasion one night while out for a run simply by being on the street, the guy was armed with a gun and had a ski mask on and was about to go up to a house when he saw me and high tailed it. Had I still been a police officer he would have been in jail or dead.

Boy... I am glad I have my own Bowflex and recumbent bicycle at home so I don't have to worry about going to a public gym where lockers are broken into on a regular basis and also having to share stuff with sweaty jock douchebags who spend more time strutting than working out.

I have my CCW and I carry everywhere besides at the post office and at work otherwise my gun is with me. I dont care if I am doing an oil change on my car, you better believe I have my gun somewhere real close. I use a crossbreed minituck and wear two shirts. I tuck my under shirt in covering the holster and gun so I never worry about bending over because I know it will always be covered. I carry to the neighbors house, friends houses, the gas station, or even just down the street. I must be hiding it well because a friend I just met always ask if I want a beer when I go to his house. He knows I drink and he must wonder why I never have a beer at his place because I havent told him that I carry yet. The wife loves that I carry because she knows that I will always be the sober driver when we are out because my gun goes wherever we go and no drinking allowed when carrying.

I was told once by someone that they carry their gun when they take a shower or bath. They put it in a zip lock bag so it doesn't get wet. Is that recommended? Does anyone here do that?

                        Thanks again for your input!

Ziplock bag????? Stainless steel J-frame with lacquer dipped ammo if you need that much coverage. I can imagine some ladies with wacko stalkers do.

No, I don't carry in the shower (someone needs to post the pic of the guy with the HK in the shower eating cookies)... however I do carry at home. Remember where 100% of home invasions happen...

I don't carry in the shower... the shotgun sling gets in the way when I am trying to soap my back. Besides, the shotgun is fine just leaning against the toilet, where it's been for the last decade.

I carry with a IWB everytime I walk out the door and sometimes around the house. Anyone that can carry should carry. If not just for the safety of your family or friends how about thinking about my family and friends??

Think about this, you are in the local drug store just picking up a light bulb real quick before you go back home. My wife and kid are at the counter paying for their stuff when a masked man runs in puts a gun to her head. You see this from 12 yards away, you can make that shot you have practiced enough you have a good back drop no issues with taking that shot. You reach for your gun and ...... oops you left it at home because you were just making a quick run to the store. The masked man freaks out pulls the trigger and she is now bleeding on the floor. He runs away and is never caught.

How do you tell me that you are capable of carrying concealed but you didnt and because of that she is extremely hurt or dead. How do you look me in the eye and say sorry I should have I could have . . . but I didnt. I would rather hear sorry I took the shot and missed which changed his priority from her to running away from gun fire.

This is how I think when I leave the house. I wouldnt be able to pick my head up to tell a grieving family member that i didnt do everything possible to save them.
