And the $64,000 question, let's see how many of you E.M.Ts and medics get it, how many inches of intrusion are required for a trauma activation? Id be interested to see who gets it. Hint there is more than one answer!

Wow that entire Freeway patrol series is pretty good. Mostly because it's all too familiar.

12" on the patients side, 18" any other side. I'll take large non sequential bills.

Anyone else notice that it was "Chief 148"?

Urban legends are a poor basis for making public policy.

This was obviously staged because there is no reason for the hose to go that direction in this case. But the truth is we are trained that if we can't get a good lead out of a hydrant because of a car and we can't move the car, go thru the car making whatever holes are necessary (keep in mind the car is always in a red zone when this occurs). I have actually seen this scenario, but never with a police car. I think we would try to avoid this from happening unless it was truley a life or death water emergency.

And for the most part I think firefighters get along well with everybody.

We might have a fireaxe to grind now and then, but no chips on the shoulder at the start of the day.

Yup, no reason to block five lane of traffic because someone ran off the road and hit a tree on the shoulder. Scene security, you bet. Until I have to take five more crashes because all the red trucks got hit too.
