    Police Uniforms That you Hate

So I was watchin' some cop shows the other day and I saw an agency in a different state (don't remeber which one) and the uniforms were black slacks and a white top. That was the first time I ever saw that from actual cops and they just looked like cheap rent-a-cops to me. It was so bad that minus the patrol car you'd think they were just armed security.

What do you guys think about those kinds of uniforms?

I'll just say some departments need to tailor their uniforms based on what their officers do.

        Uniforms!

Years ago, when I was a Deputy Sheriff, our Department Class A hat was a brown, cowboy hat... God, I hated wearing that cowboy hat!

Baseball caps were only authorized with BDUs and beanie caps were not permitted.

I've never been a big fan of the campaign hat. Had those at my last department and I was glad I only had to break it out for formal occasions.

The move toward class B's with cargo pockets for patrol was the best thing that ever happened, IMO. Long as they are kept clean and pressed they can look sharp and are a lot more comfortable.

As far as the worst looks? Aside from two tone shirts that is.....

Cincinnati PD.... white shirts and white hats. I can't imagine trying to keep that stuff clean. And they are required to wear the hat at all times when out of the car in public.

Then there is the Rhode Island State Police.... really? I feel sorry for them just looking at the photo.

The coolest look ever has got to be the Texas Rangers... but then again they aren't exactly working patrol.

Wow...Rhode Island. Those uniforms look 100 years out of date, and the flat-brimmed hats have got to suck on a windy day.

Mass. State Police.. the uniforms look like they went to a German SS clothing sale and dyed them blue. I am into history and the similarity, besides the color is hopefully coincidental.

                  White shirts.
                  Two tone shirts.
                  Light blue shirts.

I think the Rhode Island gear looks awesome, but I wouldn't want to wear it myself!

Wow, hope our WW2 vets don't have a heart attack. These look awfully similiar to you know what.

                      For comparison:

                      Mass. Police

                      NJ Police

Actually a lot of people think the NJSP and RISP have sharp uniforms. Personally, I am very simple and traditional when it comes to uniforms. I like all dark navy for police, tan shirt/green pants for sheriff. No accent stripes on pants, no contrasting lapels or pocket flaps on shirts, simple black leather gear in basketweave or plain finish with nylon gear authorized for class B.

Can't stand white shirts like Cincinnati or Broward County (FL), no light blue bus driver shirts like Chicago (with the checker cab stripes on the hat too) or Philly, no gold stripes on navy pants like Boston PD, no tourquoise bowtie on silver tan like CHP with the tourquoise stripes on the pants, etc.
                        I like guns

The CHP DID just get recognized as the best dressed state agency....
