    Speeding Ticket Question

    Hi all,

    Just got a speeding ticket down the street from my house.

    I am wondering what the description on my ticket means.

    This is what the description says:

    unsafe speed
    EST50/L4052 INO 51mph

    Any help is appreciated.. I haven't gotten a speeding ticket in years and it really stings when I didn't even think I was speeding.

    What is the posted speed limit there? I assume the 184.2 is feet, (as in how far away from the officer you were when he got you on LIDAR).

    Thats how I write my LIDAR cites:
    "73 mph @ 1400 feet" etc.

        As for the cite:

        Estimated 50MPH/ Lidar SN. INO brand Actual speed 51MPH
        @distance

        The 5/8 1 may be S/B 1 (southbound lane 1)

          At no time did you say you weren't speeding, you just said you slowed prior to reaching his location. You said you slowed down and was only going a few MPH over.. lol. I'm betting he obtained your speed prior to you even knowing he was there. Sounds like you were speeding too me...

            Thanks, I didn't realize I was going that fast. I'm not sure what the speed limit is, there is a very long stretch of road without a posted sign on my side of a major intersection, and I only drive through a portion of it.

            So that is my fault for not knowing.

              I just mean it's a place where not keeping up with traffic is difficult, and the speed limit it low. Combine that with a lack of signs or cross-streets means that a majority of cars coming through are technically over the limit.

              Definitely not the fault of anyone but the drivers - I just think the speed limit should be raised or additional signs and warnings put in place to keep casual commuters reminded. And that's something for me to complain about to my local city officials so I will stop right now.

                  Read them all, you may be surprised at what is not a speed trap.

                  Regardless of the speed limit, if the speed you are traveling (above or below the limit) is unsafe for conditions then VC22350 applies.

                              Definitely show up to your appearance.

                              generally the judge will offer to dramatically lower your fine if you tell them you want to defend yourself.

                              My ticket was for about 300 and he offered to lower it to 110

                              I should have taken it, but I wanted to defend myself... I showed up to the second court date and the officer was not present... so he continued it another month... then when i went to start my car at 2:45 and had my hearing at 3:00 my car would not start.

                              lol

                              He set the fine at $200 instead of 300 because the officer was absent the first time.
