Conditional job offer

I am so excited, I got a conditional job offer from San Bernardino County Sheriff this last week. Physical and psych next week. All the hard work is paying off. Shouldn't be any problems next week but no swearing in date yet.

What is "conditional job offer"? Why not get a full time job at LASD? They are hiring now. I taught an academy class yesterday. At the academy, I spoke to a background investigator, and he said they are so busy now.

"Conditional" means that the offer is pending the candidate passing the required physicals, psych evals, background, etc.

You should. Even if you decide to move elsewhere later. 3rd generation would be cool. I've known many parent/child, but no 3 generation families.

behavior degree will help me stand out little more than average

I'll be absolutely honest. I am not a big fan of "Department Babies." In my experience, most come on and are hardworkers while on training. Once off, they feel they no longer have to pay their dues. They walk around with a sense of entitlement. As if their parents hard work and time on is transfered to them too.

It doesnt help when their parents have rank too. We have several at my unit, and they were all babied and treated with kid gloves while on training. Once off, they were put right into some of the most coveted workstations, as if they earned it.

Ankyle, if you get hired on, remember to pay your dues like the majority of other people have done. Your grandparents, and parents have nothing to do with you. Don't live off of their reputation, carry it on.

Best of luck to you. I did 32 1/2 years and retired last March as a top step lieutenant. I got to do a lot of cool stuff during that time. It was one heck of a ride.
