You know that just because you're paranoid, does not mean they are not out to get you!

Reminds me of the time I made about 1000 dollar ammo order, 556 , 50 bmg, etc. I hear the UPS truck look outside and local PD pulls up right behind the truck. Im like thats weird you rarely see the police here then another unit pulls up both officers get out as the UPS guy starts bringing up ammo. I go outside to greet the UPS kind of wondering WTF did I do, notice both officers not paying attention to me or the UPS just BSing. In the middle of me getting the ammo they both got in their cars and hauled *** down the street.lol In 11 years in the house ive never had 2 units randomly park in front. For it to happen at the exact minute I was getting the largest ammo order of my life was just bizzare. lolComment

Haha, well at least I got a laugh. Only reason Im stating this is because YES, Im paranoid about an agency that intentionally sends guns across the border. This same agency recently tried to get FFLs to inform them when someone purchases two long guns. Now, about FFLs informing the local police chief, I couldve sworn that was the case, but I might be wrong. I DO know that is the case when you apply for a C&R or FFL license.
One more thing-I KNOW NOW LEO IS WATCHING ME!!! HOW THE HELL DID HE KNOW I WAS WEARING TIN FOIL ON MY HEAD!!!sigpicComment

You know what, you be careful man. Any day now you might get "picked up" and sent god knows where. You know what you should do? Just get rid of your AK collection, you can start by donating a few to me

No, they don't.
The DROS is transmitted to the DOJ. If it is a long gun purchase, it doesn't even include make, model, or serial number.... it just says "Long Gun" and the record is destroyed after 5 days.
If it's a handgun, the gun is registered into the system in your name. A cop, having the serial number, can retrieve that registration information.
They can also pull a list of handguns registered to you from your ID. They have no access to information on long guns.
The 4473 form doesn't go anywhere. It goes into the FFL's files for 20 years and remains there undisturbed except during BATFE/DOJ audits.
At no time is the local PD informed of your gun purchases.- Rich

Ever hear of "hiding in plain sight"?
LOL at "orca"
But ya, I agree, but actual observation is going to be plain-wraps.
No, rather than the guns, I'd be looking in a different direction. Is there any reason to believe that one or two particular officers might have a personal issue with the OP?Last edited by retired; 08-28-2011, 1:56 AM.- Rich

That's the BATFE and Obama/Congress... not your local PD.
Not exactly... When you apply for the 03FFL, you send a copy of the application to your CLEO. Nobody else sends it.I DO know that is the case when you apply for a C&R or FFL license.
If you don't send it, it doesn't get sent (but then you are committing perjury on the Federal Firearms License application... not a good position to be in)

In the 80s it was always easy to spot the Huntington Beach and Long Beach narcs working Ichabod's and Bogart's... their shoes were always a dead giveawayOriginally posted by Tacit BlueThe UC Officers go at great lengths to keep themselves from being compromised, chances are you'll never spot them.

How many did you acquire in a month? What type of FFL license do you have? is it a C&R?I live in a fairly quiet neighborhood and everyone pretty much stays to themselves. RARELY have I seen LEO squad cars with the exception of the occasional college kid having one too many. Recently, more specifically, since I got back into collecting firearms, I feel as if Im being staked out. About EVERY day, I see LEO sitting in his squad car at various times of day and night, just hanging out. I was pulled over this morning, and it seemed he was looking for something else. I havent gotten pulled over since 2003. Also at my work, LIKE CLOCKWORK, two LEO squad cars sit across the street.
I will also add, the type of firearms I collect are from the Cold War era-meaning different types of AKs. I know FFLs must send a copy of my purchases to my local police chief, and the rate I have bought them must stick out too. Is it just a matter of time before ATF sends spiderman in black rappeling through my windows? Can any LEO provide advise stating that they DO keep an eye on gun collectors? Thanks in advanced."All that is complex is not useful. All that is useful is simple."

I purchased six long guns, and I am looking to get a C&R. I looked into a regular FFL license, and from what I read its a nightmare. I only wanted the FFL to save me on purchases, but I am under the assumption (from what I read) you have to send a copy to the Chief of Police (no problem, as I am clean/even have a current DoD clearance if that helps), and then have permission from zoning officials to conduct firearm sales at your residence. THATS where they lost me-Im not going to be purchasing any guns except for myself, not running a business. I MIGHT have ordered one or two for a fellow calgunner to save them a couple bucks, and stay well within the law.sigpicComment

I thought in order to keep your licensing you have to sale a minimum of 3 firearms a year??? oh oh..I purchased six long guns, and I am looking to get a C&R.
