thoughts on baby squirrel pepper spraying?!

I can't belive that the police were even called for something like this. When I was in middle school the janitor (or maybe the PE teacher) would have smacked it with a shovel and scooped it into the trash. Seems like a waste of pepper spray.

haha reminds me of a call when a little ankle bitter (dog) got out of the house and charged my partner. My partner kicked that thing like it was a football and he was going for a 50 yarder to win the super bowl.

That dog flew like 20 feet in the air, landed and ran back in the house with its tail between it's legs with the owner of the dog apologizing the whole time

In actual dog shootings, I wonder why more officers don't take this approach. If you are in a dog's yard especially, why should you blame the dog for trying to attack you? Give it a good kick to the head. If it keeps attacking, defend yourself. If it comes charging at you in the middle of the street, do what you have to do.

Shooting people's pets in their yard just isn't right. I understand they are just animals and human life is more important, but why resort straight away to the gun?

Squirrels? It was heading right for him, he should have hit it with double ought buck right in front of the kiddies.

When people feel more than think stupid ideas flourish.

They "feel" bad about the poor little baby squirrel. So according to them doing anything to the poor little helpless thing is a overreaction.

Now if one uses their brain and actually "thinks" about the situation then actual solutions occur.


The situation:

Squirrel acting in a distinctively "UN" squirrel like way at a school.

This prompted someone to call Americas "problem solver", The Police!!

Now the caller obviously had at least a modicum of common sense to know that, "something" was wrong and to call somebody. So the call went out.

However the same caller apparently lacked the additional thought power to also realize that if they were concerned enough to call the police that they should also take all the good little girls and boys and move them inside a classroom so they would not be in any way threatened by the "UN" squirrel.

So the Hero arrives and confronts the "UN" squirrel like squirrel.

Now, he at least has the common sense to know the poor delirious and helpless little "UN" squirrel cannot physically harm him but, he also probably knows the little "UN" squirrel is probably infested with some disease carrying fleas or other disease ridden pests.

So instead of being stupid and getting near it he sprays the critter with pepper spray to keep it from moving toward him or the kids who are behind him.

Now we all "feel" sorry for the "UN" squirrel because it's little and cute. But what would have been the consequences if the officer had not acted? Would the "UN" squrril have bitten a kid? Or if the officer had not thought and just picked it up would he have been bitten and infected with rabies the plague or some other disease?

If that had happened all would be condemning him for not being "smarter" and keeping his distance from the "UN" squirrel.

The only mistake I see that the officer made was not getting the kids inside a classroom before he confronted the critter. He may not have had the time though. Shame on the school authorities though for not doing this before he arrived.

Poor little "UN" squirrel.
