Did you consider taking the reserve exit option?
I was told if you retire medically you cannot and I retired from the same dept.

heh..........the new kids call them "Power Circles" where we just called them 'Gut Bombs"

And no reserve exit option for me. I was off on an injury that prevents me from being full duty, and a medical rating is pending.

                Besides, I'm tired...........

So, what was it like on the first day that you don't have to work? I think I would feel strange. I am sure it is different feeling than being on vacation.

Not much different since I've been off IOD for a while. Kind of surreal knowing for the first time in 32+ years that I'm no longer a cop and have no peace officer powers any more.

Retirement is a wonderful thing! My congratulations to you! My 2 cents are to take a long break, sleep in, enjoy all your people, go shooting and just relax. Keep in mind, though, you might want to find a little side job just to keep active. Enjoy the retirement you worked so hard to acquire.

Congrats. At first I was anti-you when I thought you were anti-kool-aid man but then I realized it's "don't drink the kool aid".
