See you in Idaho????sigpicCertainly there is no hunting like the hunting of man and those who have hunted armed men long enough and liked it, never really care for anything else thereafter.

I strongly agree ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ to sign up with PORAC for the RAM LDF coverage. I have it, it's a great deal.
I'd like to stay up and celebrate, but I've got to get up at 0430 to go to Sac. Valley with my former Tactical team for a day of long range.
Congratulations.

I wonder what it feels like, good job sir! Can you give us a brief description on your first day on the force and last day?Comment

The first day after the academy was overwhelming. There is nothing that can prepare you for a shift inside the LA County Mens Central Jail, which is the largest jail in the free world, housing almost 7,000 inmates. I survived it and another 2 1/2 yrears before going to patrol.
The last day I worked was pretty mundane. I fell the week before tearing up my knee (again) and throwing my back out of wack. I was driving around and after an hour I was in so much pain I had to have help out of the car. Went back to the doctor and he said I was done. Another surgery on my knee (4 total) and a year later, my back is still messed up. All the tests on my back are "inconclusive" so they can't figure out what's wrong. It is getting a little better, but I don't sleep well at night because of it.
I worked 4 different patrol stations (3 with "Retired" and we also worked the jail together) and worked every assignment at the stations, including mountain patrol and helicopter observer. Did a LOT of cool things over the years.
It was one heck of a ride, but it is time to move on. NO REGRETS.
Thanks for all the well wishes.

Congrats Ron, I'm 45 days behind you so I know what you mean when you mention wondering what it will be like not going to work. After being in the same occupation for 30 years, it's kind of scary.
Make the best of it and party on.

Late getting to this retirement party but Congrats!
All the best.Guns, dogs and home alarms. Opponents are all of a sudden advocates once their personal space is violated.

Congratulations. You now have the most coveted rank in law enforcement:
RETIRED
May you live a very long and fun life post-retirement and enjoy your well deserved pension.
You will, IMHO, find the period of adjustment a LITTLE difficult if you are anything like me.Comment
