The Unions work for themselves. I am seeing that everyday with the leadership of the union and how they communicate or don't communicate pertinent information to the membership.

C'mon guys, give us CO's a break. I know the unions are'nt the greatest, but if I was in a jam (which I was years ago), my union will be right there for me. We have'nt had a contract since 06, so this contract, although not perfect, is better than none at all. I'm sick of coming to work on furlough days and not getting paid for them. Yeah, we're state workers, and somewhere, we're going to have to take the cuts. It sure was'nt like this when I hired on 13 years ago. Come on retirement!Comment

Without inflection:This is true. I won't argue that. So I guess being the good guy and wearing a white hat is not all that honorable any more. I was raised in a time when being a man, husband and father meant you were able to provide for your famliy. Being the sole provider of a family of five is tough enough. This state has taking away my pride, dignity and everything i have ever sweated, bleed and worked for. Yet, I am still expected to come to work, be professional and turn my head at all of the money being wasted. If I wanted to live like this I would have never went to college and got some minimum wage job at McD's or wally mart. I guess the American Dream is Dead!
Wearing the white hat is still the most honorable job I can think of. Those of us who continue doing the good things for society, whether it is out on the road or behind the gates, have nothing, and I mean nothing to hang my head in shame about.
The state is taking away your pride, dignity and what you have worked for? I'd venture a guess that I am much older than you are and have even more idealistic beliefs of what a family and society should be like.
Over they years I have been through many of the down turns in the economy...Did I like it, no I didn't but I didn't complain about it and continued to do my job. Tell your story to a clerk at 7-11 who works 7 days a week on graveyard at just above minumum wage to support his family and he will tell you to go pound sand. 30% of the people in the community where I work are without employeement and I'm not talking about the leeches of society either.
Yes, we are all taking or going to take a financial hit but I'm (and you should be too) thankful to have a job.The satisfaction of a job well done is to be the one who has done it

You guys have to keep your eye on the horizon. Bad times come and go, I've been through it before. Bottom line is we have to suck it up and deal with it like it or not. Remember we took an oath to protect the public and perform our duty. Yes, it sucks right now but the reality is that government entities are short money. Things will get better.Comment
