Asking in a civil manner?

It's not an issue...just an opinion.

If we had a forum for firefighters or any other profession a certain level of respect would be expected. Just because you disagree with a profession doesnt mean you have to drop basic respect and civility.

Most of the time What I say here, whether it sounds civil or not, is exactly, how I am with LEO's on a daily basis, I consider it, keeping them on the lighter side, gives them a chance to lash back at me with no repercussions, if they so desire.
I'm argumentative in nature, and argue everything, bringing up lots of scenarios and argue with their replies/reactions to such scenarios. Most of the time giving them another perspective on things.

I'm probably not considered to be very civil, and I dont care for political correctness, if it looks like duck, etc...

If your a LEO it's one thing. If you're not, don't expect reciprocity when it comes to civilty. A lot of us are bound by policy to be "professional" when dealing with the public. Take the meaning as you will. To say, hey I'm gonna call you a jackhole and I expect you to treat me the same isn't fair whether cops know it or not.

It's also another thing if you know them personally. God knows I use to drop some language here and there with DA's I grew to know on a daily basis. The ones I didnt know, I kept it professional whether I wanted to or not.

Here on the board, I think civility can be maintained even when your calling someone a dick.

I deal with everyone with the same level of civility and decorum until they give me a reason not to and then I still will maintain my professionalism when I need to take care of business. A professional doesn't let the other side dictate his actions.

Why is it that someone felt it necessary to include "ask in a civil manner" when asking a LEO a question?

It is my opinion that such an admonishment infers that civilians are second class to LEO personnel. Maybe I am overstating this and I am the only who feels this way. It is my opinion and thank you for respecting it as such.

I am sure there are cases of people lashing out at a LEO on this thread, however, I would think that established rules of this site would suffice in dealing with any negative situation if such situation should arise.

This site is a great resource for all who are interested in firearms, related subjects, and activities. I personally enjoy being apart of this community and learning and interacting with my fellow calgunners.

I would be disappointed if this site becomes yet another example of an overly moderated forum where it's more like we are here for the moderation as opposed to being here together to enjoy our passion.

Basically, you're asking a favor; that the person/LEO gives up their time to educate you regarding a specific manner.

In person, an LEO is usually armed.

Since the OP's question has been answered and he hasn't responded to my post even tho he has logged on since that post, there really is no reason for this thread to continue. He may have decided to contact Kestryll as suggested to ascertain the answer to his question.
