    Fix it tickets

This is the first time in 20 years of driving I have gotten a non moving violation citation. I was cited by chp for 4 offenses. No front plate, tint, cracked windshield and not current address on ca license/registration (thanks dmv!). Question is, I will have all of these fixed but will need them signed off for proof to the court. Am I limited to chp signing off, or can my leo help me with it? Driving to the court is about an hour away, and the date is mid April, would like to take care of this as soon as possible.

    Thanks in advance

    Dan

get them signed off while your at the DMV getting the license/reg current.
otherwise, if you happen to be at a location such as Star$'s and see an officer, wait for them to be done with their break, and ask if they would mind and have the time to sign it off. Tint is a tricky one, and quite arguable, CHP website FAQ used to state outright that it was not illegal, not sure if it does any more though. but just removed it from the front door windows, and you should be good.

oh, then when you get the notice in the mail about the appearance, there may be a fix-it option, where you just copy the signed off stuff, include a copy of your corrected license/reg and send it back with the fee, I think its 19$ per correctable violation, but it could be all combined, not sure.

Thank you for that! I just want to take care of it. The citation is marked fixable on each violation. Thanks again

For the tint 26708, cracked windshield 26710 and no front plate 5200 you must get them signed off by a law enforcement officer the no current address you must show the court clerk the proof of address.....here in LA the fee to get the violations signed off are 17 bucks CHP is for free. Just my two cents

Oh and if all 4 violations are in one citation then it Will only be one fee for all 4.....

I got a fix it ticket for lic plate lights a couple years ago in CA. I fixed it then went down to the sheriffs office and asked them to sign my ticket off, they made sure the light worked and I took the ticket and $10 down to the courthouse and was done with it.

It varies by county. LA County requires a "certificate of correction" for each violation. LASD charges $15 for the certificate for all violations listed on the cite, the court charges $25 for each section violated. Some city PDs will issue for free, and most CHP will issue the certification for free. I heard, but have not verified, that the CHP station near the LA Metropolitan Court was now charging, due to the volume they were dealing with.

Some counties will still accept having an officer sign the back of the ticket in the correction section.

That's what I thought. I asked the officer if it was 25 per violation and he said "hell, I hope not...it should be for the ticket". Well, I will find out soon enough. Lesson learned......all my doing.

LASD now charges 17$ starting Jan 1 2011 and yes it all depends on your jurisdiction. Chp office in woodland hills is still free but it all changes with out notice I should know I deal with this crap eveyday.

DMV can sign off on some fix it tickets for example 4000 (a) 1 exp registration but not all anything else for example lights, tints, broken windshield, no plates need to be sign by a law enforcement officer. There's only a few CVC violations that dmv can sign off.

Some police stations charge you to do fix it tickets. Court house cops do too. If you can find a cop just ask. Uually they will just sign the back of the ticket and you can mail it in
