I am tough on boots mostly because of the way I walk. Standard GI boots when I was in the Army lasted about a yea. Danner that I wear on and off will last 1+ year ad basically forever if I decided to resole them.

The Oakley's were comfortable and great to wear, only problem was the only lasted 6 months for me. And honestly they were pretty much un-serviceable at the 5 months mark but I started using my Danner more and rotated them out. I have since switched back to Danner Acadia's and don't foresee myself ever buying another pair of Oakley's.

And I have not gotten into the fact that they are horrible off-road, in the mud, in the rain, pretty much anywhere that is not dry and paved. But for most cops here that doesn't have to deal with the nastier terrain they are extremely comfortable to wear for most daily duty.

I've never owned a pair and only saw other co workers wearing it, saying it was great and confortable. I decided to order a pair today and see what's the big deal. I rec'd notification that it was shipped out. How long in real time did you received your package after ordering it?

You're better off getting Danners from VF and doing an exchange for a pair of their lightweight boots.

first,they run large. always have.
the assult version is OK at best. ive gone through all 3 versions(starting back in 2003)
they are comfy for the first 5-7 months. then the most common issues are
-inner heal liner tears
-toe seperates
right now im wearing the oakley tactical six. now these are SUPER nice. i bought my first pair back in 08. wore them for 18 months then retired them to hot weather hunt boots and bought another pair for work.
the retired pair have spent a year on ATV's,hunting,daily wear(so comfy) andgeneral **** kickers. i could be happier. just wish they were a little taller. i wear a jump suit so being short is ok by me. plus i can full on sprint with these on,they feel like tennis shoes.

i like mine. i dont expect any boot that is comfortable to last more than an year. normally my boots lasted a lot longer but were horrible to my feet. ill buy once a year to be able to run and jump with out regretting it later.

The last time I was looking for new boots, I did the same thing you are doing and was checking around online. I was looking for a pair for SWAT. Overall the feedback was positive. Based on that I bought a pair.

They were complete crap. They looked like crap out of the box. Yes, they are very lightweight, but the finish on the boots was horrible with lots of hanging threads on the inside of the boot. They were tough to cut out. I put New Balance SuperFeet in them and that helped some.

In a short while, a little hard use took them apart. Very disappointed.

I recently ended up buying 2 pairs of 5.11's XPRT. Best boots I've worn on the job. I hear that 5.11 is getting away from the boot business, and are in the process of selling their existing stock, so you may be able to find some at a reduced price. I bought mine for about $80 each.

I like the Converse Boots beter for a lightweight boot.

I wear one with my uniform when work at a court. It is pretty comfortable. However, I don't think it is a heavy duty boots.

I have never owned a pair of Oakley boots mainly because I heard that they don't last all that long. I did purchase a pair of Blackhawk boots and I have been wearing them for a couple of months now. They are waterproof and not very heavy. So far they have held up great.

No sidezip option ruled it out for me.

My buddies that have them say they are very comfortable but the soles are not the best for non-slip.
