According to the LA Times, one ICE agent was killed and the other wounded when they came into a roadblock apparently staged by narcos.

Their black van can be seen at Borderland Beat: http://www.borderlandbeat.com/2011/0...in-mexico.html

Wonder what our response will be from our intrepid leaders... apologize to Mexico and the cartels for their troubles?

The gloves have come off when they openly target American LE. Let's see if our leadership backs the badge.

I won't go to Mexico for any reason. The drug war down there has spread to resorts such as Cancun, Cabo, etc.

There is a bounty paid for US law enforcement officers by the cartels.

From 1998 to 2009, I worked the Southwest Border, and it has gotten worse every year. There has not been an American Agent killed in Mexico since Kiki Camerena in 1985. the gloves need to come off or it will spill over to American LE across the Border.

                        From the OP's link...

So these were agents assigned out of country and with, presumably, diplomatic immunity, which equals they had every right and reason to be there. If they stumbled upon a cartel roadblock and were made, it's bad. If they were followed and specifically targeted, it's far worse.

It was a few years back that a US undercover was kidnapped and killed in Mexico. It's a dangerous place, a free for all. No one knows who is working for the cartels. LEOs are all suspect as well.

The saying they use down there these days when they make an offer to a LEO, military, or politician, one they cannot refuse is; "silver or lead?". You get a choice which you want when they offer. Most take the bribe of course and now Mexico is just about a failed state.

I built a vacation house in Mexico, sold it and got back here pronto and glad I did while it was still sellable.

RIP to the fallen ICE agent, speedy recovery to the second.

This seems like bad luck for the agents vs being targeted.

The vehicle the ICE agents were driving is highly targeted by the cartels for theft making this seem more random compared to the slaying of DEA agent Kiki Camarena (RIP) who was targeted specifically for kidnap/torture in order to get the source network he was running.
