Mounting a GPS to front window

Is this legal? My new GPS came with a mount made to mount on glass.

If no, what VC would cover this topic?

    Thanks

Technicaly it is, because it obstructs your view. I have not heard of LEO actually giving a ticket for it. Another thing is thiefs look for suction cup marks on windshields for a quick smash and grab.

Only legal mounted in the lower left or right hand corner of the windshield.

        Passenger Side
1.GPS units may be mounted on the passenger side front windshield of a vehicle. The GPS unit itself must not take up more than 7 square inches of window space. The unit must be mounted in the lower right-hand corner of the windshield at all times.
        Driver's Side
2.If a driver wishes to mount her GPS unit on the driver's side front windshield of her car, she may. However, the GPS unit may not take up more than 5 square inches of window space. The unit must be mounted in the lower left-hand corner of the windshield at all times.
        Keeping It Safe
3.Drivers in California may also mount their GPS units on their dashboards if they do not wish to mount them on their windshields. However, regardless of where the mounting is, it cannot in any way obstruct the airbag from being deployed in the event of a crash.

Driver side, lower left corner of the window so it's not obstructing your view and also puts it nicely out of reach for you because you are not supposed to be playing with it while driving.

I have one of those big beanie bag bases where I can just plop my GPS on it and it holds it steady most of the time. Works a lot better than that suction cup dealio where it keeps falling off or you have to fight it to pull it off when you park so it doesn't get smashed and grabbed.

I suffered with mounting it on my dash and having it fall off constantly. My Garmin came with a disc that had adhesive on one side. I didn't really want to put it on the dash, but I did. The GPS still fell off frequently and I didn't want to spend $40 for the beanie bag thing.

My brother sent me a email one day that showed Best Buy was selling refurbished bags for $19, so I bought it and have never had one problem with it. I just put it in my center console when leaving the truck so it isn't visible to a burglar's view. I recommend buying one.

Here is a link to a bunch of them, including one from Best Buy:

Ya, the Garmin discs work okay, but you have to lick the suction cup before sticking it down, and they do work best on top of the dash.

I'm tall enough that the only thing it obstructs there is the center of the hood... but the same went for when it was mounted to the glass.

Every few months, it'll fall off and I have to stick it back on again... that is if I don't knock it off, which I do occasionally when I'm using my motorcycle for my commute.
I get into the "muscle memory" thing when I'm not driving the Suburban to work and the only thing I'm driving with 4 wheels is my work truck... C7500 with air brakes. So when I get in, I start it up, drop it into gear, and smack the parking brake knob.
Work is over, I head out to the lot, start the 'Burb, put it in gear, and smack the GPS
It doesn't help that they're both Chevy's with a similar dash layout.

I was told to put a thin film of oil like Wesson or something on the disk to help it stick. Haven't tried it since I have the beanie base but the advisor swears by it.

I did that, but it still fell off. What was odd is that I could drive over a bumpy, washboard dirt road and it would stay. Four miles later while sitting at a red light on a paved road, it would just fall off.

                        Same here.
                        Normally on hot days.

Never thought about the Wesson oil trick.

I guess the key is to create an airtight film so air doesn't get in and pop out the suction cup.
