EOTech vs Aimpoint question?

I prefer EOTech's field of view but Aimpoint's superior battery life. I never had a problem with my 512. But I really dig the compactness of the T1/H1 so I'm gonna give that a shot on my next build.

Eotech has longer battery life depending on the model! Not to mention that if you don't turn it off or Adjust it it turns it self off!

I don't like the fact that Eotech turns itself off. I prefer Aimpoint due to the fact the optic will stay on for years, so anytime I pick up my rifle it is ready to go. In stressful situations, this can matter. That is not to say that Eotech is junk, just a different design.

I think you like the Aimpoint because it's what you bought!
Eotech shoots tighter groups because it has a smaller 1MOA dot!
Also it's a Halo sight! If take your hand and try and comer your aimpoint you will not see the dot anymore! With an Eotech it will sneak it self over to the area where your hand is not covering it! No to mentions where the dot is POI with an Aimpoint you have to center everything to get an accurate POI.

I own both and the Eotech is wayy better!

I've owned a couple of eotechs but have never owned an aimpoint. I have used a couple of them and the brief synopsis I have using them is that the EOtech felt like it had a much larger area to walk around with your eye if you ever needed to and the aimpoint felt more like a traditional scope in the sense that you had to line it up properly a bit more. The EOtech had a much smaller dot which I liked in comparison to the 4moa aimpoint I got to use. Ultimately I think it came down to experience and that I chose EOtech over the Aimpoint for cost reasons as well as dot size and that factored in to me being more familiar with the pattern and how to operate it, as well as the wide field of viewing area. If you're really wanting it for a harsh environment, Aimpoint is number one bar none and I would trust my life to an aimpoint over an EOtech any day, however the EOtech never failed me once in all the use it got. I've liked both for various reasons and its a personal choice, nothing more.

I've never owned an Aimpoint, but like my Eotech. I like the larger 65 MOA ring as opposed to the dot of the Aimpoint. My partner has an identical rifle to mine with a micro Aimpoint. In the few minutes I fondled his rifle I thought the field of view was too narrow for my taste. I get about 6 months of battery life in my Eotech, and that is running it continuously at the start of my shift and allowing the auto-off to kill it after 8 hours.

I'm curious as to how someone can trust their life on product over another if they've never used it? OR, trained with it? Curious anyways...

Having been a genuine operator, you know you MUST train with something before putting your life on the line with it. Just a humble .02

I'm not sure who you were asking. I know with my agency, we must not only qualify with the rifle and chosen optics, but attend training and refresher courses. I'm pretty sure anyone carrying a rifle in a patrol capacity has received some training, and practices at least to be sufficiently accurate to qualify.

I own both, have used them extensively, and like both of them very much. They both have strengths and weaknesses when compared to each other. As long as you pick whatever is most comfortable for you and train with it you can't go wrong with either.

I think your question is valid, but I believe with the track record of both, anyone could easily trust their life to either project. If either is good enough for SWAT, LEO, Mil, Contractors or otherwise, its probably good enough for any one of us. Their track record of reliability and being bullet proof for either design is sufficient to trust your life to IMO.
