Pot isnt as big of a deal they are going to get it anyways we cant stop that so why not tax the hell out of it and make some money already.

I havnt hooked anyone for excessive speed or reckless driving on pot usually they are going too slow on the road headed to the 7-11 to get some munchies.

I could really care less. I lost all motivation to pursue marijuana possession once they made it a non-bookable misdemeanor. The AB doesn't really change anything...I am sure most departments, like mine, would still have to pull a report number if they do seize the marijuana. I don't fancy pulling a report number for an infraction.

If they make it legal, my only hope is the criminal aspect for DUI/Marij. is the same or similar as it is for DUI Alcohol.

          But thats just me.

          EDIT:

Did something change the grand theft threshold recently?

Schwarzenegger, facing a $19 billion state budget deficit, also signed another bill this week aimed at saving the state money by keeping more people out of state prison. That measure raised the threshold for grand theft from $400 to $950.

              I copy.

That's a retarded reason for raising the threshold. I can't stand thieves.

I like PC 496 but NO ONE really keeps track of serial numbers, in my area at least.

                    Thx for the link Doheny.

So I'm reading same pot law but change in classification. Meh. No biggie. It's still illegal, as of now, and I can still arrest if I have to or need to. As far as legalizing pot, I'm not for it. The bigger problem, IMO, is that punishments for crimes in general are not swift enough nor severe enough - there's no real deterrent for the POSes in our society to behave properly.

Wrto 487 - I'll have to wait to read the actual wording in the penal code. IME, the media is notoriously inaccurate...

I was never big on "rules just because they're rules". Thieves and bullies always earned a little extra attention though.

I don't care at all professionally.

The bigger issue is the edits they made to 666PC.

And since everything is pled/watered down anyway, all the POSes get like 20 chances to straighten up and fly right, even for serious crimes...

                          (yes, I'm exaggerating - just a little)

Actually, that's what my wife said (less the POS part.)

I think that the pro marijuana people that look at this as a victory are going to be in for a big surprise. As a misdemeanor, citing someone with a small amount of marijuana was more trouble than it was worth and the DA wouldn't file anyway, so lots of cops didn't want to deal with it. Treating it as a simple infraction that will be handled in traffic court will most likely result in more enforcement and people with small amounts that would not have been cited in the past will now be getting a citation.
