I have full respect for LEO but sometimes when I am with my dad, we might not be in a handicap spot but when I see one open or if there is one closer I will move his car there for him. He is legally disabled with polio. I get weird looks sometimes when I do that. Would that be illegal? Or does he have to park it there himself even if he was about 20 feet away in the store.pewpewpewComment

Hate to play it by the rule book, but what's the problem with you dropping him off in front, parking the vehicle, and when you're all done, go get the car and pick him up in front again? I'm under the assumption he does not possess a placard right?I have full respect for LEO but sometimes when I am with my dad, we might not be in a handicap spot but when I see one open or if there is one closer I will move his car there for him. You're risking fines and having your vehicle towed.Internetz are serious business.

He can get a handicap placard. You can use it as long as he is with you. One year, I issued 3 parking tickets for handicap violation on Christmas eve at a crowded shopping mall. I confirmed it before I wrote it. The guys were using someone else's or stolen placards. I confiscated them, also.I have full respect for LEO but sometimes when I am with my dad, we might not be in a handicap spot but when I see one open or if there is one closer I will move his car there for him. He has the placard what I meant to is that say we went to the outlet off the 10, and we start shopping at the east wing. I will drive his car from the east wing to the last store, which is the west wing and park it there till we leave. He drive there and back home though, so I am only moving from one handicap spot to the next. I would never park in a handicap spot if he isn't with me and his placard is in the car.Hate to play it by the rule book, but what's the problem with you dropping him off in front, parking the vehicle, and when you're all done, go get the car and pick him up in front again? Just make sure you can point the LEO to him for confirmation and you will be OK. We get a lot of people claiming to be moving the car for their disabled relative, but the relative is no where to be found. No slack in those situations. He has the placard what I meant to is that say we went to the outlet off the 10, and we start shopping at the east wing. Gotcha. Just wanted to know if it was legal or not to physically move the vehicle into that spot. I used to think only the owner of the placard can move it in.pewpewpewComment

May i ask why? I understand it's breaking the vehicle code, but why? To me it seems like an unnecessary law.
I drive a 92 chevy truck, and the front license plate bracket is a $25 dollar part. After having the thing ripped off while off roading, i can choose to buy the part again, or do something with zip ties and risk having a plate stolen.Comment

because once you get home and pop off the nice "Corvette" filler plate, you'll see that there isn't any hardware there.May i ask why? I understand it's breaking the vehicle code, but why?
you're supposed to go to the dealer, when you receive your plates, and they will install the hardware and your plate for you...it's part of the service. corvette drivers sometimes think they're too cool for this or they think the filler plate is just too cool to take off and they don't need/want to. it's just a reality check...because the journey is the worthier part...The Shepherd's TaleComment

Well, then you are knowingly breaking the law, and if that is what you told me your reason was I would issue a cite. Then you would be out the $25 for the bracket and the $25 fee to the city, plus your time of having to get the cite signed off. Wouldn't it be easier just to comply in the first place?
I would love to have my front, side windows tinted, but I do not since it is a violation. Not a huge deal as many people would say, but the law IS after all the law.
And I agree with 9mm about the 'Vettes....I have had more than one tell me, "Dude, it's a Vette, you seriously want me to make it look like ****?" MmmmmHmmmm, well, do press hard, there are 3 copies!Comment

Mine is stop signs...
Is it that hard to stop behind the line people? i swear I could 11-95 10 cars an hour at one intersection at 3:00 in the morning in my little podunk town...

So would you cite me? Or is just more for corvettes?because once you get home and pop off the nice "Corvette" filler plate, you'll see that there isn't any hardware there.

You're absolutely right i am knowingly breaking the law. And if i got a ticket for that I would have no problem paying it.Well, then you are knowingly breaking the law, and if that is what you told me your reason was I would issue a cite. I believe the no front plate can be a fixer ticket (5200 VC) or moving violation (5201 VC??) if I remember correctly. I haven't worked the streets for over 15 years, so I am not certain on the vehicle codes now. Usually the drivers are cited for a fixer ticket, but not so nice drivers were cited for the moving violation section.Comment

Our society gives handicapped folks two things to use in public, a parking space and a restroom. Nothing more satisfying to me than to watch people run to the patrol car and lose their minds as the tow truck is wenching their car onto the flatbed from a handicapped spot. The satisfaction of a job well done is to be the one who has done it
