How to approach LEO when needing a ticket signed off

Okay I looked back till 12/09 to see if this was asked but nothing came up.

I received a fix it ticket recently (although I was told it was not a correctable offense, the letter I received in the mail states other wise) with out going into alot of detail and I need to have it signed off.

Normally when I see police officers out and about on the job they seem to be pretty busy and I feel uncomfortable approaching them (as some times I do not always receive a warm response.) as they may legitimately have more important things to do.

Any suggestions on the best times/ ways/ manner to approach an officer to receive this required signature?

I am looking to get it done with in the next week so I have time to Hand Deliver it @ court. I might be out of the state later in June and I need to have this done by the 20th ish.

This. When I was cited for no front plate, I went to the local station and a nice volunteer lady went and made sure my plate was on vehicle and signed off on the ticket. Five minute process.

Front desk at a police/sheriff/CHP station would be the best thing.

I politely asked a highway patrolman while in the middle of nowhere. I was getting gas, he just finished getting a soda. I politely asked him if he had a moment to sign off on a fix it. Less then a 1 minute process.

I will try the local police station. Last time I went there for something they just gave me the impression I was bothering them with my report (of a hit and run) so I am a bit reserved about going back to say the least for something less serious.

I understand now that your ticket needs to be time stamped from the station. The LEO on the street may not be able to just sign off anymore.

dept policy? Mine was fairly recent and it wasn't an issue

I remember hearing a story back in the day about someone doing that and the leo told the guy, "Look, why don't you go home, sit down to dinner with your family, then call me." "I'll be right over to sign off that ticket."

We don't do field sign offs. You have to go to the station and get a stamp.
