will POLICE DEPARTMENT using 4th GEN GLOCK?

Hi, I was just wondering since most law enforcement agencies use or issue Glocks on their department. Will a new recruits and veterans be getting 4th gen glocks instead of 3rd generation anytime soon?

Planning to work for FBI soon as I get myself a B.A. on Accounting and degree on a Computer Information System degree. I want to know if I am going to be issue 4th gen glock if I were to get hire from FBI down the load.
    thanks everyone

I know certain divisions of the FBI issue the Sig P229, not sure if all do.

I saw a number of LAPD officers carrying a Glock 22 and know of a client of mine that just graduated from the FBI academy and he was issued a Glock 23 Gen 3.

You'll start seeing them as personally owned approved weapons.

TRP is only issued to the HRT members.

The civilian model is called the Professional, not the TRP. The TRP is a production gun, whereas the Professional is semi-custom and is built by the Custom Shop. It is the same gun furnished to the FBI, with the exception one has "FBI" engraved on it and one has "Professional" engraved on it.

Newer is not really better in this case. The RTF sucks.

I don't think mine will. I believe they are going to stop issuing glocks due to some problems.

The Springfield Professional model is issued to HRT and FBI regional SWAT teams. The FBI has issued/allowed 9mm Sigs in the past (My 2nd cousin was issued a P226 9mm) along with several other pistols, but I believe all new agents are now issued .40 Glocks (22 or 23) and I'm not sure if any other pistols are authorized except possibly for some grandfathered exceptions. I honestly haven't worked with FBI recently so I can't say for sure.

Back to the O/P's original question. Most agency's have an inventory of handguns to issue. Generally they only buy more on an as needed basis or when they are totally refitting the entire department with new handguns.

It will probably take a few years to see any substantial number of fourth gen Glocks being "issued" by any agency.

My dept is wanting to get rid of our Glocks due to some issues and go to the Sigs but the financial timing is bad. Glad I already carry a Sig!!!
