    Cigar Littering Question

If I am smoking a cigar while driving, when I finish it, can I put it out completely and break it up out the window and scatter it, or would that be littering? I could see how it might not be since it is just leaves but wanted to check before I pick up a 1k ticket.

    Thanks.

Dont know if its different from a cigarette .. but my buddy had the fun of picking up a trash bag of crap on the roadside for dropping a cigarette out the window. Nasty habit .. but gave me a good laugh as the cop handed him a bag and told him to clean the street as a warning rather then ticket him. I noticed he no longer does so anymore

Littering is littering. There is no exception for biodegradables, etc. The only exceptions I know of are poultry feathers and water from melting ice.

What about a banana peel...? I have tossed a nanner peel back in the day... I guess that slippery peel could make a 200 cra pile up pretty easy... JK

There I have it. Thanks. I thought that breaking it up might make a difference, but there don't look to be any provisions for that, and the law is pretty clear.

As above by CSACANNONER... the only exceptions are for feathers from live poultry and clear water. A banana peel would be a violation.

              And one I wrote once.....

What about cow pee? Have you ever gotten stuck behind one of those dairy trucks while driving?

Hoping for a different answer, I checked with a couple of Salinas' Finest as I was leaving school and they confirmed that it was littering

Throwing a lighted cig butt on the street/fwy results in a large fine and mandatory community service

I'm not a litterbug, and I hate trash on our roadways. I was just hoping that since there would be no unnatural trash produced (like cigarette paper) that it might be okay. Kinda like throwing a stick or some leaves out the window. My butt can stink up my car something fierce, so I was hoping I could just discharge them broken up out the window. I only restarted smoking about a month ago and it is probably the worst decision I have made in a long time. Hopefully I'll stop in a week or two before I get too habitualized again.

I was tested on that question years ago and still laugh because the answer is stuck in my head...

Speaking as a former motorcycle rider, we didn't appreciate anyone throwing anything out their window while in front of us.
