I loved my PR-24. I was a PR-24 instructor. The first one I had was the standard plastic type. Later the alloy with the spinner insert in the handle. It served me well until the end of my career.

The PR-24 was the only thing I knew. Issued in 1976 and turned in in 2003. It was not as black as it was when issued as I used to use it to knock down the large shards of hanging glass at business 459 calls. I didn't want to step over the threshold and get guillotined.

I carry the Monadnock Autolock and it sucks, it's pretty ineffective with it's "power safety tip" (and no, i'm not weak). Although it's uncomfortable to carry, I would still rather carry the aluminum PR-24 and don't even think about the plastic one.

Another relic of the old days that has laid to rest. Now due to MFF issues, only straight sticks or collapsibles are allowed. Can't do all those slick moves we learned in the academy.

What do you mean laid to rest? Is that for San Diego PD? Lots of agencies still use them

I dont like collapsible. I had a 24" ASP and it was not ideal. I went back to my aluminum PR-24 until I got a 26" Dymondwood straight stick. I like the feel of it better, and it seems to get peoples attention when it is drawn!
