I think your age is very appropriate for law enforcement, as long you have done some life accomplishments and have kept a clean record. I think it works both ways, young people want to get into L.E but they have something shady in their short past, vice versa.

My friend joined OPD at 40 and several co-workers started at 41, so I wouldn't think it should stop you unless you' re out of shape, lack life experience, no education and have previous arrest record. If it's a knee jerk career choice, look carefully and do some run along with several local PD. Is your family behind you in this choice?

We have Reserves in their 70's lol. Well, they look like they are in their 70's, may be late 60's.

If Im not mistaken... Only State and Federal Law Enforcement Positions have age restrictions vs. City and County which do not.

e.g. California State Highway Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigations have a 35yrs (I believe) and 37yrs respectively.

I have seen and trained many military retirees in the academy. Some of them were "older" (passed 40), but had better attitude than the "young kids". I think many agencies lifted upper age limits.
